Awesome Laurie -
Yea I hear you about knee issues...and about the allergies!!! I am wondering myself if it is not the pain medication motivating me, LOL ;-)
Well the walk-run is part of a "fit at 5" initiative going on in ME, so all abilities are encouraged to work towards this goal. Believe me I know I will not be in any shape to run it all through!!!!
But for me, especially Post-op this week! It is a sweet goal to go for. My understanding is that first time 5 K walkers/runners are encouraged to apply! :-)
I will be looking at the free training program being offered by the Main Running Company. Then seeing if I can replicate it myself to start building strength towards the October Event.
I still have a few weeks unit I can actually do any working out...but I figure, maybe I can begin to set up an exercise program to help me.
Being post-op and cooped up indoors recovering has been tough, I actually miss the treadmill and gym workouts I had gotten used to pre-op....
Anyway - let me know and maybe we can meet up at the PF in Rochester sometime when I am cleared to start working out again.

Well, my son is egging me on to do the 9k with him next May for the troops this would be a good start. I am going to call the Dr about my knee this week, to see what he says about me running. Something I never would have even thought of 2 years ago, maybe even 1 year ago. But today you have peeked my interest and maybe it is my allergy rattled brain talking lol but who knows this could be the begging of a good thing.
Hope to be able to make it.
Laurie

Well, I'm fortunate enough that I don't work outside the home, so luckily I didn't have to figure that out. I do feel that one day I feel invincible and have lots of energy, but then I Peter out. Yesterday, I decided to take a little nap and woke up 5 hours later. It fluctuates, I guess, or maybe I just do to much some days and pay for it the next. Don't be in a rush. Take time for you and this journey. Work will wait. : ). Good luck!

Debbie,
that is so great keep working your tool. It is an amazing journey. I am so grateful to be where I am at. I am almost 1 year out and I can't get over it. I can remember when I tried my first large shirt on, I called my hubby from the dressing room in tears and told him I could wear a large shirt....his comment that's a good thing right. Typical man, but after I stopped crying and told him yes he was very happy for me. I now wear some medium shirts and a size 12 bottom, sometimes even a 10 It is so much fun, it will get frustrating, but don't panic when you hit a stall, it may hit any time now. It is normal!!!! Just know it will pass. Glad things are going well.

Hey Debbie - Thanks and congrats to you too! If you don't mind me asking, how long did you stay out of work for? Just curious, I am trying to figure out my body and had originally thought of returning back to work next Monday but rethinking that a bit now..... anyhow hope to meet you at group! - :-) Xico

Tomorrow will be 3 weeks since my surgery. I have already lost 20 lbs. Some of my clothes are swimming on me. Goodbye 3Xs, you are no use to me anymore. I was walking today and realized how baggy my outfit was and started to giggle like a schoolgirl. I pulled out the old buckets from the basement and fit into the 18/20s. YES!
I started this journey on December 7th at 263 lbs. Today I am at 216. 47 pounds gone forever.
I started at a 48.1 BMI, today I am at 39, I made it to the "just plain obese" category, down from "extremely obese". Can't wait to see the "just overweight" category, but I know it WILL come in time. And then, the hard to believe "normal" category that I don't think I've seen since grade school.
Thank you to all who have come before me and have shared their wisdom and well wishes. I feel so blessed and happy and feel like this is one of the best things I've ever done in my life.
