CONGRATULATIONS! That is so wonderful. I know we can all do things a little better, but to know we are doing things so much better than in our prior lives is something to definately be proud of!

Yesterday was my 5 year surgery anniversary - can't believe it. I feel great, have my "new normal" of eating and have been with in the same weight (give or take a few pounds) for a couple of years now. Yes, I could eat a little better...yes, I could be moving more, but I'm proud of myself!

Hi Nancy,
To be nervous is a natural occurance prior to surgery, no matter what kind of surgery. You will be fine! Which surgery are you having? I think Christmas is a great time of year for weight loss surgery. You are celebrating the rebirth of your life! Some pointers...Make sure you buy and bring chapstick to the hospital with you. Also, make sure you pack your iPod or MP3 player. You will enjoy listening to the music more than the sounds of the hospital. Don't over buy food, some of the things that you are eating now may not appeal to you, or you may not be able to tolerate right away. Sugar free popsicles are amazing! You can stock up on those!
The most important thing to remember is that you are not alone. There are many people around you that have been through this. We are a click away. We are all here for you.
If you do not post again before your surgery, I wish you the best. CMC is a wonderful hospital, and another weight loss patient that I am very close to had her surgery there, and her daughter works on that floor. They will take very good care of you.
Merry Christmas and HAPPY NEW YEAR! It will be an amazing new year for you.

Hi everyone its been a while since I have been on. Got my date about 3 weeks ago. December 19 at CMC in Manchester, Merry Christmas to me!! So excited but nervous at the same time.
Everyday I get closer I start to get more nervous. I have waited to so long for this and now its so close I could touch it and I can't seem to get my nerves under control.
Other wise I can't wait. I think the nerves are just getting the best of me, I have nothing to worry about. I think I have just worked so hard for so long and now I am there that its almost surreal to me.
Everyone thinks Im crazy for scheduling the surgery right before Christmas and I think it couldn't have been a better time.
I am trying to get everything ready, I got all my food for this week, I will go shopping again on Saturday to get the rest for next week. The following Saturday I will go out to get my stuff for after the surgery.
Well I guess I will be on here a lot more after surgery since I don't have anyone near me that has been through it before.

Topic: RE: So how is everyone doing with the holidays approaching?
Well this is my first year that I may not dump, although I am not trying to pu**** I am in charge of our holiday spread for 130 people so I am going to have to be real careful. I have found that if I make something for treats I need to do it the morning of so I am not tempted to try any of it.
I make fudge to sell and donate for the troops, and that would be my downfall, but as soon as I make it I get it out of the house. Even if I just put it out in the van.
As for the spread I am making sure there is plenty of protein and that I have plenty to drink. I hope things go well for you Hugs.

I'm almost there too. Met with Dr. Looser this week...just waiting for the office to call after the insurance junk gets back. I think only three more meetings left....one more with the Dr. and one with the pre-op nurses...and my surgery!! Just a waiting game now...on edge!!
Topic: RE: Cost of Psych Dr @ Portsmouth...
I just went through Dr. Wagner's program (Sept. 2011) and it was $430 out of pocket. The first consult was $125 if I remember correctly. Yes you can pay as you go along.

Hi all...
This is sometimes a tough time of year for weight loss patients! I know that for many years I struggled, but it is getting much easier. I even made it through a cruise and only gained 1.2, which I have lost! It is hard though, so maybe everyone could give some advise to those who are finding it hard.
My thing is just to make it through each day, each hour, each minute. It is harder for me now because I am home and not working (ugh). I know that it is a no-no, but sugar free gum has become my friend. Sometimes all I need is that chewing sensation, and I am good. I really like the dessert flavors that they have come out with. Orange creme and apple pie are my favorite. I also do not even go down the candy aisles in any store, the smell really does me in.
How about the rest of you? Any tips?
Above all, enjoy the season! Don't make it about food, but about friends, family, and sharing.
