Topic: 1st meeting with Surgeon
Hey Everyone!

I have my first meeting with Dr. Gens tomorrow. I am wondering if anyone might be able to share some of  their first meeting experiences. I am just kind of wondering what exactly to expect.

Thanks so much!

Congrats on your date, it is very exciting.

1. Bring your music if it calms you, and helps you relax.
2. Rikki treatments (offered by the hospital) Take advantage of this helped me out big time
3. Pillow for the trip home, all the bouncing with our great roads the pillow helps to keep things put.
4. your own robe if you feel like it and I love my own slippers.

Just relax and know you are doing this for you, sip sip sip and walk walk walk.

The walking helps move the gas out and the more you walk the  better you will feel.

You may be only one person in the world, but to someone you are the world

It's from all the fluids they pump into you...I knew there was a weight gain, but didn't expected 22 pounds, the nice thing is, it only took 8 days to lose the 22 pounds.  :)

Congrats on your surgery date!  Happy Valentines Day to you!! I had my surgery Jan 10th (2 days after my daugther's birthday)

A must for me was my iPod touch and ear phones.  I lilsten to music when I am sleeping.  I also brought my own robe and used it when I was walking the halls and I did a lot of walking! Make sure you pack comfortable clothes to come home in.  Some say bring a pillow for the ride home.  I did and didn't use it, but I am not far from the hospital.

Expect weight gain! I gained 22 pounds when I was in the hospital, lost it in 8 days.  I have read anywhere from 6 to 20 pounds is what people have said they gained.

The first few days at home were good, no problems here.  It's was after the first few days at home for me...just being very emotional....at times I coudln't control the crying...but it's all good!

I just got my surgery date!  February 14th.  Happy Valentines Day to me!   I am a little nervous, but super excited.  I have a few questions if folks don't mind sharing their input...

What should I bring to the hospital?  What are the first few days home like?

If you have any other advice, PLEASE I am all ears!

Thanks!

Topic: RE: Time off after surgery...
 Jill,

I had G-bypass 4 weeks ago. It all depends on the person. I felt well enough to go back after a week but took the extra week to teach myself more on my eating and fluids. Just take it one day at a time and take it easy don't rush. But I can say I have 3 growing boys at home and I was home with them Winter Break and the only issue I had was I was tired.

Good luck!!
