Hi Cathy:
I also live in Deerfield and I have been thru the program at Portsmouth Hospital and the whole experience has been great.  Log onto the website at Portsmouth Hospital and it will link you to the bariatric program at Portsmouth.
They have a support group for post surgery people on the 2nd Monday of every month at 5:30 at the hospital - I will be willing to carpool.
If you want to talk about it offline PM me.

I am so proud of you.  You have hit a very high hurdle, but you've jumped it!  Good for you that you're still managing to stay on track and have upped your exercise.  You are doing it, and you should be so proud of your accomplishments so far.  You will make your goal because your head is in the game.  Glad you checked in with us.  Don't forget us on the boards.  We are always here for cheerleading and support.  Have a great weekend!

My husband and I are both getting our gastric done in Mexico and will be needing a good doc for our post-op visits and we'd also like to find a good support group to join. We live in Deerfield which is in the middle of no where but we can get to Concord, Manchester or portsmouth all in 30-45 minutes.

Thank you =)

Topic: Ban removed

Hi All,

Well I am back, had my band removed at the end of April and it is now the end of May...feeling ok, still have very depressing moments when I think about my band and the fact that it is gone, i had a hard few weeks after surgery, I was feeling good physically but was an emotional wreck.

One thing that I can say is the removal of band had help me to realize that I have no safety net and that I can not just think the band will stop be from eating something because I know it wont it is a struggle every day with food but I am still on the track, wont drink soda or eat a lot of bread, and one thing I know is that this had made me exercise more, with my band I lost over 80 pounds, with out it I am determined not to gain it back and still have about 40 pounds to my goal.

When I had the band I did not exercise very much now I run almost every day and life weights with my hubby.

I talked to Dr Gens and he said that there are other options but they scare the heck out of me, I hope I can be successful on my own, just wanted to check in and say hi to all, have a great Memorial Day weekend.

Just an FYI--- plus size clothing (mostly 26/28 to 30/32 but some 16 to 22/24).  I am selling everything cheap, cheap because I really want it gone---like $1-2 an item.

Keep up the great work!!! I am so happy for you and can't wait to join you.  I have all of my Mom's jewelry and most of it doesn't fit because of weight.  I actually found her HS ring.  I would love to wear it.  Soon enough.  Keep it up.

Hi,
I had the most amazing day today.  First,  I was going through my jewelry box and tried on a ring that I have not been able to wear in 15 or so years, and OMG it fit my finger.
Then later I went to my primary care Dr, I had bloodwork done and it showed my A1C is within normal limits, no more diabetes, my AST & ALT liver functions are within normal limits for the first time in a year and a half and my blood pressure was ok even though I am off all my BP meds.

It amazes me what excess weight does to your body, I wish I had done the surgery years ago.

Thank you all for staying with me through this journey.  It has meant the world to me.
