You definitely did the right thing. There are always going to be people who don't agree with surgery and are going to to try to talk you our of it (I had my sister!). You just need to do what it best for you!! Let her send you all the weight loss links she wants, just thank her and move on knowing you are doing what is in your best interest for the long run.
If you need to vent about things more you know where to come. Sadly, I bet she will be giving out little jabs here and there even after surgery (again, as my sister does every time I speak with her). Like others have said, she may be worried, scared or even jealous of what you are doing and, unfortunately, she will deal with it in a way that is not so pleasant for you.

Less than a week... YAY!!!

I think you did the right thing.  I don't know the "history between you," but I do know that people don't usually get up in the morning with the thought of being mean or thoughtless as to someone else.  In her own way, she probably thought she was trying to help.  WLS is just as scary (if not scarier) for our loved ones as it is for the person actually having the surgery.  So people will try to find other ways for you to accomplish your goals without you having to go through surgery.  Of course, there are also those who (subconsciously) are jealous of the idea that we may be successful with weight loss, especially if they feel that they also need to lose weight, but either cannot or will not take the WLS route.  Anyway, it's always better to take the high road.

Wow!  You are less than a week away.  That's exciting - good luck!

You def. did the right thing (in my opinion.)  Good for you for not stooping to her level and being the bigger person.  You prob. won't change her mind on WLS so why try?

Good luck with your surgery.  Let us know how everything goes.

OK so here it is 1 week before my surgery and my "sister in law" has now found out I am having wls and she has now sent me links for weight loss products and how great so and so did on it and that I should just look at it before I truly decide that WLS is the right choice.   At first I was a Pi$$ed then I thought how could she, then the little cricket on my shoulder told me not to fire off the first e-mail I typed.  So I deleted it and just replied "thank you for the info and see you Saturday".  Hubby thinks I should have let her have it with both barrels, and with the history between us  that was my first thought, but then... people here have taught me that I can be the better person.  So I guess I wanted to vent, ask if you think I did the right thing and say THANK YOU all in the same thread.

My week kinda blew. Was hoping to be more active than I was but with ball games for the boys and the rain killing my big outside plans for yesterday I didn't do as well as I hoped. I did go for a run friday night after the games, and even went to the gym saturday (Im not a big weekend gym person!) so I ended up with 215 for the week. Definatly going to have to pick it up this week!!

Hi Everyone,

I did pretty well this week given that Thursday was my son's birthday, and Friday a wedding rehearsal.  Saturday I baked and decorated a wedding cake, and the wedding was Sunday!  The beginning of the week though, I Kayaked on Monday, went to the gym Tuesday and Wednesday, and danced on Sunday.  So my total for the week is 330. Hopefully I can keep up the numbers this week. Not as crazy!  How about everyone else?
