Thanks Kerry for the tips! I have to lose 15lbs, and I have lost 4lbs so far. I am hoping to keep it going. I drink a protein shake in the morning but I need to switch because it has tons of protein and tastes great but I think it is more like a meal replacement, Muscle Milk strawberries n' cream. They have muscle milk light, so I may try that and really want to try the nectar brands as well. I've heard you can get samples of a lot of protein powders and vitamins as well, I'm going to start looking. You live pretty close to me and my best friend lives in Center Barnstead, so it is nice to see there are quite a few local people going through the same things! Do you go to any of the group meetings?

Tonight is actually my last class with Dr Wagner - he is very entertaining & the classes have been great. I have lost the pre-op weight + a pound & still have at least a few more weeks - my first mtg with surgeon is on Monday - YEAH! I find I had to change things up in order to really keep the weight loss going. Very strict South Beach style no carb for 3 weeks after that I added in veggies & just a smidge of good carbs, then I kept that & replaced breakfast with a protein shake (also a great way to start experimenting to find the ones you like - I am very happy with the Nectar line - Vitamin Shoppe has them & if you hate it after a couple of shakes, you can exchange for different brand/flaver). This week I actually have been doing breakfast & lunch as protein shakes. Just measure, keep the protein high, sugar extremely low & very low carb. I find if I am hungry inbetween meals a cheese stick & a couple of slices of lean deli turkey breast take care of it. how much do you have to lose?
Good luck - I am hoping to keep losing up til surgery - the more the better, right? :)

Topic: A few things...
First off, I'm going to be taking Dr. Wagner's classes June 16th, is anyone else? And two other items of importance, has anyone had any side effects from drinking too much crystal light? I'm up to a gallon and a half of water/crystal light a day and I wonder if some of the things I'm feeling are related. Also, I have not met with the nut yet but will be July 1st. Can anyone of you give me suggestions, good, bad, or indifferent on how you lost your pre-op weight? I have cut out sugars, and simple carbs like potatoes, pasta, bread, chips, etc. I am now considering measuring all my food like if I were 1 year pre-op. I am afraid that I am going to be way too hungry doing this though. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Not at all!! I am only 2 months out and I am eating pretty decent foods... you will have limitations, of course, but it's not pureed for the rest of your life! Your tastes in certain foods may change.. for instance, I can't stand steak anymore... or chicken for that matter, and I loved both before.. but I have this new-found love for fish... LOL You think it will be that you miss the foods that you use to love but don't anymore... but in my experience, I have found that the foods I loved and no longer have a taste for do not bother me.. I have found new foods to love, so I feel noloss there...
If it's food choices that you're worried about, don't. It's not all cottage cheese and ground up meats.
And getting cold feel right before is normal... I started freaking out a week before my surgery... all the doubts people were putting in my head had a really bad affect on me... I was so nervous that there would be complications or that I wouldn't be able to control myself and I would split a seam... Believe me, my hunger was majorly curbed after surgery... I couldn't be happier with my choice and have had very little complications... and the ones I've had are to be expected as you adjust to a new lifestyle.
Ultimately, the final decision is all yours. YOU have to be comfortable with what you are doing. If you have done the research and believe this is what you need, great! If not, then take more time, do more research and don't jump into something you are not going to be happy with.
Good luck!

Topic: Cold Feet
I am close to getting my surgery date but now I am getting cold feet. Is this normal? My concern is about what I can eat long term after surgery. Is it ground chicken and cottage cheese for the rest of my life?
Topic: OFF TOPIC GAS$ in Portsmouth
I am not sure where anyone lives, but I am just posting this because I know money is tight all over. If you are coming in for an apt or if you live in Portsmouth area the Gas on Rt 1 headed toward the shipyard is down to 2.63 a gallon. I know that is .16 cents less than the station by my house. Just an FYI hope it helps.

Yes, you did the right thing. I have found that those kind of people are scared of wls and think they are trying to help and no matter what you say she will probably not change her mind on the subject.
I like to pick my battles, I would not waste my time on this one.

You did the right thing... But didn't your husband already have WLS? You would think she'd get over it by now... :)
