Great Job Lisa I am so excited for you!!  I am just 5 days away from my surgery and am very excited.  Can't wait to be able to just make it through on full workout.  I am so happy for you, you are an inspiration.

Thanks ladies for all the tips!  It is nice to have good people on here that are willing to lend their advice.  I try to return the favor when I happen to know what I am talking about as well!  I CAN NOT wait to be post-op!

Topic: Hello everyone...just checking in.
Hi everyone.  I have been MIA from here, but I do lurk and read threads.  I have been busy lately.  Have got lots of sub requests for teaching Jazzercise.  I LOVE my job!  It's a lot of work, but so rewarding knowing my job is to make people happy and healthy.

My weight is great.  Actually I have lost weight since becoming an instructor.  I WI on Thurs. and today I hit my all time low of 139.4.  I really don't want to lose any more weight, but it just keeps coming off.  I'm sure if I have a lull in teaching I may find a couple of lbs.  I feel comfortable at 145.  It's hard to believe "I" can wear a size 8!  I even bought a pair of bermuda shorts in a size 6...To think that my goal size was a 12 when I started all of this is just crazy.

People are still commenting on my weight (both good and bad comments.)  I just smile and only absorb the good comments.  Yesterday I taught a J class and a familiar face walked in.  It was an employee at DHMC who makes appts. for the bariatric patients.  She was always so nice and pleasant.  I approached her after class and told her I was almost 2 years post-op and she said I looked great.  She said my name sounded familiar.  So, those are the comments I like...

Anyway, I hope you're all doing good.  Check in and give me an update on you when you have a chance.

Lisa

Your protein shake should be a meal replacement.  You can find a lot of samples but mostly online, I just ordered a sample pack of About Time yesterday.  In stores it seems to be hard to find anything but the huge ones.  I did go to the preop group last month & am planning to go to the one in a couple weeks.  Hope to see you there!

AWESOME for you for taking this approach, it is tough to lose the weight. I had to lose 14 from my weigh in, but I had been losing with my hubby before his surgery, so it was tough.  What I found helped and this is the perfect time for it  has been walking on the beach.  We would get a decaff coffee at D&D then set our chairs out and then take off down the beach.  By the time we got back to the chairs the coffee was perfect to drink and the sun was setting so it was a little time to sit and enjoy each other.   I had been following the pre-op diet Jacquie set up for Sam.  I am only in Milton, so if you need anything just drop me a line.

As for Protein, I think Martha meant to say 69 Grams not ounces of protein.

Really it is worth every hoop you jump through to get where you need to go I am so excited I am down to 5 days!!!!!

hey girl!!!   You may be drinking too much water/crystal light.  You should really only be drinking between 64 and 80 ounces of liquid a day.  You can drink too much water, and it can have harmful effects.  Make sure you talk to Jacquie about that.

I had a protein shake every morning.  I now have Muscle milk light, which is really good. I drink simply smart milk too.  One of the biggest things you can do is get a smaller plate.  It really helps, and it makes you feel like you are eating way more than you actually are.  Also eat around 60 ounces of protein.  Protein will stay with you longer than anything.

Cold feet is totally normal.  You will be able to eat just about anything you want, except for all the bad stuff you shouldn't.  Remember, this is just a tool, not a life sentence.  And remember, nothing tastes as good as thin feels!!!!!

I totally agree with everyone else.  Good for you for being the better person.  When I told a friend that I thought would be very supportive, she replied that she did not know why I was doing the WLS, and in five years I could lose the weight (and keep it off) with diet and exercise.  She herself has been really struggling with weight loss, and has gained back most of what she lost.  We have not talked about the subject again.

So, forget about it...and enjoy the last few days before your surgery.  Everything will go great, and you will join us on the other side!!!
