Topic: I'm addicted to Sugar! Looking for Nutritionist who can help!
Hi All,
I had lap band surgery about 3 years ago. In the last year, I've put back 10 lbs despite keeping up the exercise. The biggest problem is I've allowed sugar to creep back into my diet - cookies, cake, cupcakes mostly. At least one "treat" daily.
I MOUTH CRAVE sugar and I compare it to what a smoker must feel . Especially after a meal I CRAVE sugar and sometimes it is very hard to get off my mind.
I really want to find a local nutritionist who can help me with sugar addiction. I do NOT want to use the hospital nurtitionists as I've not been impressed or felt helped.
I've had a number of fills. Portion control is not the answer.
Anyone know a good nutritionist who would specialize in this?
Thanks so much!

Topic: Looking for post-op meetings
My husband and I had our surgery done in Mexico since our insurance did not cover us and we could not afford it in New Hampshire (75k vs 14k). But, now we're looking for a support group that we can attend. We live in Deerfield, N.H. which is about 40 mins from Manchester, Concord and Portsmouth. If you know of a meeting in any of those places could you please post date/time and location information?
Thank you kindly,
Cathy Pierce

Thanks. I did call and they gave me a sheet of what they want for 2 weeks prior to suregry. Doesn't sound like fun but I will do what ever they want to get this done!

Topic: RE: 75 lbs down and life changes
Hopefuly the good changes outweigh the bad. I have been reading a lot about the personal side of things and it is kind of scary. I read one statistic that said 90% of marriages end after one partner loses a large amount of weight. I have also read of many people losing friends over it. Overweight friends drop off first then less active friends. it is a lifestyle change to be sure. Good Luck.

Topic: RE: New here! and have got some questions...
That is wonderful. It can seem like a long difficult journey at times but listening to the who have gone through it is always inspiring. I have been less social because of my weight and don't as a rule enjoy large groups like you can find at these meetings but it is actually nice to hear other people that are struggling with the same issues that I am and to know I am not alone. The first info. session is ok but the support group meeting are great. They always have post-op patients speak and their stories are enough to give you hope and keep you going. I meet with the surgeon soon and should get a date for my operation. I am hoping to be done with my surgery sometime in August!

YAY I found a primary care physician! I set up an appt. I haven't seen a doctor in years...
I'll be going to a seminar at cmc on July 19th, I'm guessing the other one was full.
It feels good, scary but good. I feel like I got so much accomplished today!

Sounds like you have taken the first step which is to get more information. I actually went to an information session at Catholic Medical Center before even talking with my primary care physician. The next info session is 7-7-10 @4:30 if you can attend. Check out the facebook page for the center as well. just search nhwls on facebook. Best of luck. D
