Topic: RE: band and revision planned for next week
You did not fail! The band and your body did not agree, it was not like you planned it that way.  I hope you will give this new tool a chance.  Don't give up on yourself and let the Dr's do what they need to do and just let your body heal.   This will work for you.  I am only a few weeks out, but I have seen my hubby do wonderful.  Please let me know if you need anything.

Topic: band and revision planned for next week
I got my band in July 2006 and from the beginning it was not right.  I had to have it so tight to lose weight that eating was downright painful and on top of that I was a slow loser.  I got pregnant with my third baby and gained some weight. After having her the doctor and I started with fills again.  Sadly something now was really amiss. I was either not able to eat at all or was eating but having horrible gastric reflux at night. I spent much time with my doctor and she suggested revision.  I am petrified of gastric bypass so I said I wanted to keep trying with the band.  She suggested 6 months working with the band and then we would talk. Well here I am.  They could not get the awful reflux to stop so I finally decided that I was going to go with the revision.  I have to have my band out, a hernia fixed and the bypass.  I start a weeklong liquid diet tomorrow.  I have been doing liquids and one meal for the last 3 days.
I am terrified of the surgery itself but also at failing. Even though my doctor told me that from the beginning my lap band wasn't working with my body I still feel like I failed and I am afraid I will have this surgery and fail again...

Topic: RE: Looking for post-op meetings

Hi There:

I also live in Deerfield and go to the Portsmouth meetings and I totally recommend them.  If you would like someone to go with to check it out let me know and we can take it offline to arrange meeting and such.

All the staff are wonderful and will help you out in any way they can.  The people that go to these meetings share their experiences and ideas which is a great way to get new ideas and such.

Hi there,

I work with the Portsmouth program, and I was wondering are you in our program?  I couldn't really tell from the posts.  If so, I will reach out on your behalf to see if I can get some additional info for you - or have someone on the clinical side of the program reach out to you.

Best regards,
Grant

Topic: RE: Looking for post-op meetings

Hi there,

Since this question comes up quite a bit, I wanted to post the full schedule of support gorup meetings available at Portsmouth and Parkland Medical Center in Derry. No registration is required for the meetings and anyone is welcome.

Best of luck to you and have a nice July Fourth weekend.

Best,
