Topic: New and Nervous!
Hi all, I am new to this Board. I am anticipating a move to the Upper Valley and will need to find a qualified bariatric surgeon who will continue to work with me as a long-term post-op. I had RNY in 2004 and went from 365 to 140, and after a slight rebound, I am maintaining a current weight of 155. Can anyone advise on the bariatric community in your beautiful state? I don't see any NH surgeons listed with OH. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated - I hope to attend support groups as well. Thanks so much. Maureen

Kerry,
I am very happy for you! I can't wait to finish losing my weight :( so I can meet the surgeon. I have my pre-op testing on July 28th!

Topic: RE: I'm addicted to Sugar! Looking for Nutritionist who can help!
Bobbi,
Have you tried the sugar-free "sweets"? Also, I bake with splenda and the food is great and no sugar! Other than what comes from milk if used. If you can't cut the addiction, at least change the type of sweet. You could make a batch of brownies or cupcakes (you can make your own frosting with splenda also) and individualize them so you can grab one and still feel like you aren't depriving yourself. I can't tell you their names but... When I was trying to lose weight years ago, the nutritionists at Exeter Hospital were EXTREMELY helpful. It's not Portsmouth so you may want to give them a shot? Hope this helps!

Topic: RE: Chinese Food Suggestions
I think Im worried about the drything too... they tend to cook the hell out of everything!
Thanks for the suggestions. At least I know Ill have hubs there with me scouting things out with his inability to have much salt at all..... we are gonna be a cute pair trying to work our way around that place. I dont think his mother could have done a better job finding a place where hubs and I to eat

Walk around the buffet and scout it out first. I found that steamed veggies were good. I also took some chicken chow mein. It was in a lighter sauce than some of the others. I had no problem with crab rangoons, egg rolls, or chicken wings. Just remember the sodium is high in chinese food, and so is the fat. If you can find something in a light sauce, that would be better. I did realize that I ate way, way less than I ever did before. Oh I did stay away from the pork and chicken teryaki. Seemed a bit dry.

Good job everyone....remember, drink lots and lots of water. We get dehydrated faster than other people! Be safe out there, and don't overdo!

Topic: Chinese Food Suggestions
Tomorrow night I have a rehearsal dinner to go to with my Husband. The dinner is going to be at a Chinese restaurant and honestly, I have NO idea how to deal with it.
I haven't had Chinese in probably close to a year, and certainly not since the band so I'm a little worried .
I have done the rice thing but other than that, any suggestions on what is safe (ie, things that don't get stuck or make you pukey). Just trying to get my head around it before I walk in the door!
Thanks for the suggestions!!!!
