Topic: Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR)
I had my MedGem testing done this morning. The results explained a lot for me. I've been struggling with a few extra pounds that I'd like to take off. I've been using the calculations provided in Fitday to figure out just how much I should eat to lose 1 pound a week based on my activity levels, etc. The program said that if I ate 1696 calories a day, I would lose a pound a week. I saw my doctor last Friday, and I've gained another 3 pounds since I last saw him in May -- even though I 've been staying below the 1696 calories. It turns out that my RMR is very low. The nutritionist I saw said that I should try to stay at 1200 calories a day AND exercise a minimum of an hour a day/7 days a week. Even at that, the math doesn't really add up, but she hesitates to have me eat less than that. So frustrating - the weight battle never goes away. At least now I know what I'm up against. Hopefully, I'll have some success now!

I did not have my surgery at CMC, but I just wanted to say that, with regard to which procedure you should have, you will have the opportunity to learn about both procedures throughout the preop period. Take advantage of that and ask as many questions as you can. Once you have studied both, then it will be time to decide which one to have. I started out definitely going for the lap-band and changed my mind partway through to the bypass. But the decision is personal to you. Just make sure you learn as much as possible about both before making your decision.
Good luck with everything!

I got 395 minutes in. I started out very slowly, but ended up spending a lot of time in the neighbor's pool and in my garden. Total for the month is 1040.

Topic: RE: Monday's Plan
Looks like a good plan you have there... Lobster... Im jealous!!
Im gonna jump in on this and see if perhaps it gets me back to where I needs to be!
Breakfast: 3.5oz egg/egg substitute combo with Low Fast Cheese and 2 Wasa lite crackers
Lunch: 1cup low fat cottage cheese with 12 grapes and walnuts
Snack: NOTHING, forgot in the AM rush. May resort to a sugar free root beer barrel mid afternoon
Dinner: Tacos made with lean ground beef (Im going to have to really think this one out to figure out exactly what I eat!)
No gym tonight since I have to go to Hubs softball game at 530 (how old are boys when they dont want you to come to games anymore?!?) if things cool down Ill try to get a walk or bikeride in after dinner.

Did better this week than last, but was definatly in spurts. Only a few times to the gym, but did get the hubs to go once.... he is still hurting from trying to show off (had to do at least 20lbs more than me on arms and keep up on everything else). Im kinda happy about that; lets me know that I am doing well and makes him think about what he is doing before he does it again :)
Thanks to a weekend trip the the mountains I clocked 375 minutes this week with a total of 845 for the month.

Topic: Monday's Plan
So the weekend went pretty good. I was told to "back away from the mudslides" and I did, choosing crystal lite and malibu or margaritas. I ate really well this weekend, even had lobster last night. I got on the scale and I was down 1.8...hum, that number sound familiar?!
So my plan for today:
Breakfast: Greek yogurt with Granola
Lunch: @ 3 ounces of lobster with kashi crackers and 1/2 cup cantelope
Dinner: Not sure at this point. Hopefully chicken and not steak.
Snacks: I have baby bell light cheese (2) and California medley
I am going to the gym tonight, so I will have at least one day, if not two during this week.

Hi there, hope everyone is staying well and hydrated on this hot and muggy Monday! I had a pretty bad week last week. I did not make it to the gym at all, and got all of my exercise in on the weekend. But between walking at camp, swimming, and waterskiing, I managed to get in about 205, which brings my total to 700 for the month.
