Topic: Weight Loss before Surgery
Can anyone explain to me how they expect you to lose weight before the surgery?  I have my first 2 appts in 2 weeks and I expect they'll tell me then.  I weigh 325 and I'm nervous they'll want me to lose so much that I won't be able to.  I haven't heard yet how much they expect.  Thanks.

Martha,
I hope everything went well for you today.   You will do great and I am glad there were only a few bumps in the road.  I am sure you will be back to your old self and good habits soon.  Smile it is supposed to warm up on Monday!!!!

Topic: Fill her up!!!
So I have made it one month with no fill in my band.  It has gone pretty good, with only a few bumps in the road.  I have been very....VERY hungry, but have worked through it with more protein and salads!  I have gained about 3 pounds, but overall very pleased.  I get a fill today, not sure how much, but hopefully I will begin to feel some restriction again!  Now I just have to remember to slow down eating and taking smaller bites.  I have found that I have been slipping in those areas.  But I don't want to irritate my pouch again.  At least now I know the signs of my band being too tight!

Thanks! And thanks for the good luck wishes. I love to hear people say they are glad they did it because at this point it's pretty scary. :0 I do love Dr. Catania though and I have every confidence in him. Hope you had good results today. Have a good weekend! :)

Great Job,  Keep up the great work.  I hope you and the family feels better soon.  It is always great when you have to buy new clothes.  I still shop the thrift stores, but then again I love not wearing what everyone else is wearing.  Have a great week.

Topic: Two milestones in ONE WEEK!
Well as of this week I am officially just OVERWEIGHT... I am no longer obese! 29.5 BMI...
I also managed to lose so much weight the past few weeks that my comfy size 12 jeans are now too big and baggy!

Yes - I went out today and bought 3 pairs of size 10 jeans!!!!  YAHOOO!!!!

It has been a month since I have been to the gym as I have been dealing with sick kiddos at home... NON-STOP since February!  Yet the honeymoon phase continues... I am amazed as I thought I had finally stopped losing and was in maintenance mode... so wrong on that thought.

Still have issues now and then with absent minded eating, then the pain comes and I remember why I need to slow myself down and PAY ATTENTION!! I hate the sick full feeling... sometimes our brains do not kick in when we are not paying enough attention.  I will learn or my pouch just may do me in.

Had my first stomach (pouch) flu last week.. YIKES! Thankfully for previous postings, I managed to make it through in dire pain but I made it through.  I wouldn't wish the pouch flu on my worst enemies!!

Happy Monday Gang...

Thanks Janet!  At least knowing your story, too, I can pretty much plan on a mid-May surgery date.   Good luck to you!  :-)

Hi MilfordMom,

I am new to the site as well. I am going through the CMC program and have a surgery date of April 30th. I had my surgery consultation on the 28th of March so it was a month. I took the first available appointment. I thought it was a little strange too about not getting the appointment right away. I was there for my meeting with Dr. Snow (this was a step I hadn't been aware of) and then she said I was ready for my surgery consult so I went to the window to make an appointment and she said she would be making Dr. Catania's appointments in a few days and would call?? I had never had that happen anywhere before but I guess they do it differently. So in a few days when I hadn't heard anything I called back and they made the appointment then. No real problems or issues to speak of. I love Dr. Catania. I am glad a coworker who had the surgery referred me to him. So one more week of eating for me and then I am on the 2 week liquid (ish, you get one lean cusine a day) diet until surgery. Best of luck to you! :)
