I could use any advice that people have to offer
Hi Melanie--
You said you have medical assistance. Do you mean medicaid or something like that? I don't know much about other programs, but I went to Dartmouth Hitch**** Medical Center in Hanover. To me, they are the best. They make you go through a lot of testing and such, but it is well worth it. I made it through the whole program and had surgery in 9 months time. It is different for everyone. I highly reccommend them to anyone thinking about surgery. If you don't care and want to rush through it there are other facilities that will no make you go through many tests, and make you lose any pre-op weight. To me, DHMC is very thorough because they want to make sure you are ready for the life changes and commitment that lie ahead so that you are prepared. If you would like to email me for further input I would be happy to give you more insight about it. I can be reached at [email protected] Hope this helps you some.

Hi, Melanie,
Catholic Medical Center in Manchester has a wonderful program for the treatment of obesity and it includes the option of having weight loss surgery.
The program is very thorough, with plenty of pre-operative screenings and testing; the staff are very competent, knowledgeable and caring - in fact several of them have had WLS themselves. I have worked with the people at Catholic Medical Center's program at the Obesity Treatment Center since my first informational session in August of 2005 and have been very favorably impressed; I am very confident in the program, my surgeon, and in the comprehensiveness and quality of pre-operative care I've received. I anticipate receiving the same high quality of care at my surgery and afterwards.
I have heard wonderful things about the program at Dartmouth Hitch**** too; there are other great options - please do your homework and research whatever program you join thoroughly - it all boils down to how informed a consumer you are and the gut feelings you get from the staff at the different facilities.
The Obesity Treatment Center can be reached through the "Ask a Nurse" program at Catholic Medical Center - you can find the Ask a Nurse number on their website (just type "Catholic Medical Center and Manchester, NH" into your internet search engine and locate Ask A Nurse through their programs link - I think the number is 603 626-2626 but I'm not sure). You can ask them when the next WLS information session is scheduled. Or please e-mail me.
Good luck and best wishes for a wonderful experience, and no, I'm not a CMC employee - just a happy patient.

Hi Melanie,
My doctor was originally with Southern NH Medical Center in Nashua but has since moved to Boston. He recommended, and I have been going to, the OTC at CMC in Manchester. My doctor was such a "detail" guy that I know if he recommended it, it must be good. Their after-surgery care has been awesome!!!
Good luck.
