im so frustrated!!
i have finished almost all of my requirements,i am at least 80% done.i have been working exremely hard to change my lifestyle and have given this MY ALL!!!yet,i sit by and watch quite a few poeple who started this process right along with my getting thier dates or even having thier surgery already.i havent even met dr.looser yet!!or started any pre-op testing either!im getting really frustrated here and i do not understand this.i know poeple have different health problems,so some poeple are priority, but come on!one woman in my group has already had her surgery and she is smaller than me!!i just want to move on a little further in the process already.im trying so hard,im ready for the next phase!!!
I am sorry, I know how frustrating it can be. But they could have different cir****tances. For me it is a long story but in 2003 I went to a Surgeon, waited 9 months to get an appointment, he accepted me, did all my tests and then two weeks before my surgery my blood work comes back that I have diabetes and he was not going to bring me into the operating room. A couple of years later I deceide I am going to try and have the surgery again, my regular primary care doctor was out on Surgery herself, the new one told me I could choose what ever Surgeon I wanted (of course she didn't know, the Navy has one Surgeon they approve in CT), started the process of meetings and tests with this Surgeon, then come to find out my insurance won't cover him. So I went to my third Surgeon, had to go to an informational meeting with a group of people, when the meeting was done the Nurse gave me my surgery date. I am sure there where a few people there that where not happy, but I had already completed everything, all my tests, my insurance approval and I was ready to go, but they didn't know that.
Hang in there it will happen, it was a long road for me, but I am glad that I stayed on that road and didn't give up.

Jennifer - I can understand your frustration. I went to a surgeon, completed all the requirements of his program (over the course of 4 months) and went for my surgical consultation to get my surgery date and he told me he was leaving and was not going to perform anymore surgeries! I had to locate another surgeon, attend that program and finally, 10 months after I began, I had my surgery (4/4/06).
It can be very depressing, but hang in there. This will happen for you! Just keep doing what you need to do to complete the requirements of your program and don't worry about anyone else! Keep a positive attitude as much as you can.....once things begin to happen, they happen very fast.
Warm regards..........Bonnie
Jennifer,
I can totally relate! I have absolutely no patience, and I was not willing to wait at all. I decided I wanted the surgery, and I wanted it that week. I could not go through all of the pre-op stuff, so I chose a different hospital to move along faster. That being said, I see a lot of post-op patients here say they are glad they had to wait and were forced to make a lifestyle change before surgery, they were more prepared, etc., so I guess there are benefits either way. I did not do any pre-op test, support groups and had no weight loss requirement, so it moved very fast (about 2 months from consult to surgery date), but still not fast enough for me!
All I can tell you is hang in there, be persistent, and it'll happen! I am so glad I did this. I am still really fat, but much much happier because now I can buy designer clothes and ride on the roller coasters.
Best wishes to you, and keep your head up!
Carrie
Hi Jennifer,
Dr Pacuili did my surgery and Dr Gens was the other surgeon in the room. I had my surgery back in Dec 04 and have lost 160+ pounds. Trust me, it is worth the wait.
Just some suggestions, have you tried contacting Nancy Seesman to get the status and see what the hold up is? I would call her or Dr Looser's office directly...let them know that you are waiting and are ALMOST done. They have a lot of patients wanting this surgery so you don't want to get lost in the shuffle per say. I believe that I have Nancy's email address if you're interested.
I have only been to one support group meeting since my surgery because I didn't feel comfortable with the group - there were clicks and it was total kyoas - no agenda. This was over a year ago so hopefully it has gotten better. I have thought about going to one with my friend who had her surgery by Dr Gens a couple months ago.
Don't give up and be patient, it will pay off, trust me!!!
