feeling depressed :(
I cannot help but feeling depressed the last few days. It could just be PMS but I think that all the MD appointments ,test, consults are really getting me down.I was at some type of medical appointment almost everyday m-f this past month. I do not feel any closer to getting my date for my bypass. I have done the lab tests, sleep study. phyc appointment met with the nutrionist, attended the first group nut. meeting, but I still do not know if my insurence will cover it. they keep telling me that they will submit it for approvel once all the testing and MD appoinments are compleated. but in the mean time I am getting lots of medical bills for all these appointments I am told to go to. I am getting really worried.
my insurance company said that they cover WLS if it is medically necessary. but all the bills are being coded for weight lass surgury pre-op and they are being denied because I have not proven that it is medically necessary yet (I have very high B/P sleep apneia, Rem. Arthritis, gout, lupus, fibromyalgia, ect.) I have to follow the diet the nutritionist put me on last wek, but I find I get depressed even thinking about it and then cheat! like every meal is my last. I did lose 6lbs towards my pre-op goal of 15 but I did it on my own with slim fast.
has anyone else gone through this? I am afraid to mention it to my MD's as for fear that it will prolong the waiting for a date. I am allready on lexapro 10 mg. sorry this is so long , thanks for listening. (or reading!)
Joann-- so sorry you are feeling so lousy. I don't blame you for feeling frustrated; to go through all this and not know if your insurance will cover it must be so discouraging, like going on one more diet plan spending money knowing you're going to fail (my history, not assuming anything about yours!). Your history definitely sounds like you meet most insurance criteria for the surgery. I don't know why they cant submit for pre-approval??? Mine was pre-approved. Maybe you can call your insurance yourself and ask them to start the approval process so you can know if you need to go through all this. And as far as the bills you already have, the doctor's offices can re-code them so they get paid for. Just call them and tell them. They have a very high interest in getting paid! so I'm sure they will do it. I've had bills resubmitted with new codes when insurance denied them. So hang in there!! Do you have support at home? Sometimes I would have my hubby call and deal with an issue if I felt completely overwhelmed and discouraged. If not, keep coming back here and talk to us! Valerie
