need some info. on your experience
I have made the decision with my pcp to start the ball rolling for wls.
I have read that it may take up to a year before i have the surgery if i choose to have it at Dartmouth Hitch****
I called my insurance today and they will cover the surgery. I have a physical next week for all the blood work up.
I guess now i have to make a decision on a surgeon and where to go. I am really not a patient person, and I know i need to be for this, but a year is such a long time to wait.
HELP
Hi Lesli,
Congrats on starting the ball rolling. I am going to have my surgery done at Newton-Wellesly in Mass. It is well worth the travel. I had my first meeting in Feb. and my surgery is April 4th. They are willing to work with you, (after your required meetings are done ) on when you want your surgery. The staff are really nice and Dr. Partridge is wonderful. I am so glad I decided to go there instead of my original choice.
Best of luck...If you need more info, don't hestitate to ask.
Lesli,
I went to one meeting at Dartmouth-Hitch**** and could see the writing on the wall, with tests, meetings, consult, etc. I am not a patient person either. I decided to go to Brigham and Women's. I called them, got a consult the following week, and they gave me a surgery date that day. Definitely worth the trip, and it is an easy ride (from Manchester, anyway). I am very pleased with their efficiency and the sped of the whole process. They will schedule everything in the same day for you (psych consult, nutritionist, any other tests needed). I had an independed psych eval done in NH and brought it with me. I required no testing other than the standard blood work, and the whole process was very smooth.
And, a trip to Boston is fun. I make a day of it when I have appointments. The hospital is only 5 minutes from downtown crossing, so I go shopping while I am there.
Good luck, wherever you choose.
Carrie
