Support groups in Keene area?

Hi - my name is Susan and I just had surgery on Feb 1st. So far everything is going well with the normal challenges. I am trying to find a support group that is in my area however. I am located between Keene, NH and Brattleboro, VT. Does anyone have any ideas? I had surgery in Springfield, MA with a great surgeon but will have a challenge attending his support groups due to the distance and timeslot. Any ideas would be appreciated! Susan

Support in Keene area.... We live in Charlestown and my wife is going to Pennsylvania, The Barix Clinic where all they do is gastric surgeries, following her recovery I plan to have my own surgery, What hospital did you use and who was your surgeon

I had my surgery in Springfield, MA at Mercy Hospital. I worked with a surgeon and bariatrician team. The surgeon was great (his name is Dr. Kasper) and does a number of Gastric Bypasses a week at Mercy. I would recommend him ( so much so that my husband is having surgery with him March 29 ). The Bariatrician is Dr. Keroack who is also in Springfield and does the before and after stuff (like all the psych eval, nutrition assessment, initial testing prior to surgery and then post surgery support). His staff is excellent and prepared me well for surgery! It is a little drive for us but we are over on the SW corner of NH anyways so Springfield is not too long of a drive. Howard, Have you checked out DHMC in Lebanon, NH? The surgeons there do both open and lap RNY. There are support groups on the first Friday of every month. My surgery was 08/18/05 with Dr. Paul Kispert. He's GREAT! Check their web site at www.dhmc.org Karen from Claremont, NH
