need help with protein
I am really having a hard time with the protein. I have unjury and other types flavored and unflavored and everytime I take it I feel nauseas. Is there anyone out there that know about a pill or some easy way of taking it without feeling this way. Even the unflavored you can still taste it and it upsets my stomach.
Hi Sandra,
I still struggle with protein as well, but it has gotten a little easier for me (now 2 months post op). One of the things someone on the main board suggested to me when I was having trouble was to mix the drinks with less water than they need and just get them down faster, they are bad either way and at least that way you can drink them faster. I do that with the Nectar iced Tea, I make a scoop with 4 oz instead of 8 oz, and just get it down as fast as I can (usually about 10 sips). Hope that helps a bit. There is a pill, I forget the name, but you need to take 6 to get 15 grams of protein, and I don't like pills either, so I didn't order them. I am sure someone on the main message board would know the name on the pills, I forget, if that would work for you.

Hi Sandra-
I am still pre-op, but I was talking to Kandy (nurse at DHMC) about protein powders one day. She told me that there is a protein gel that she just found out about. Another gal that works with her adds it to water and drinks it. I believe she said it was a cherry flavor gel that she had. Might be something worth looking into. I can try to find out this week when I go to the meeting where they get it or what it is called. I will let you know.

I'm the person that Kandy @ DHMC was talking about.
The "gel" is Pro-Stat 64. I get the wild cherry flavor and
mix 4 tablespoons into 20 oz of crystal lite ice tea. It's worth
30 gm of protein. I get it at www.cwimedical.com It's kind of
pricey, but you get 32 servings per container. At the point
where I am now (nearly 4 months post-op) I'm only using it
once a day as a boost to what I get thru food.
Let me know if you have any questions.
