Hello All! This is my first post. I am from Manchester and am currently looking for more info on weightloss surgery options. I have a BMI of around 45-47, sleep apnea, problems with my feet/legs and breathing. I do have health insurance, but had not thought I would qualify for surgery until I talked to someone who had it done. Now I am looking for information on where to start. Do I start with my PCP? What if she is against surgery? Should I call a surgeon to talk about it? Are there local support groups I can attend to talk to others without being sent by a doctor? What is the average time out of work? I have lots of questions...

I have alot of the same med problems as you plus I have diabetes, back pain, acid reflux and pain in legs and knees and ankles. I started with my PCP. She gave me a referral to see a surgeon. Dr Gould is my surgeon and he works at Dartmouth Hitch**** in Manchester. Attend one of his informational meetings there. The meetings are every 2nd friday of the month. There you will get all your questions answered and a packet to get you started. Good luck to you Sandy

Hi Dawn, Welcome to the Losers Club!!!! I am currently in the process of qualifying for the surgery and also attend the support meetings every 2nd Friday from 3 to 4PM at the Dartmouth Hitch**** Manchester Clinic. You should be able to get all the information there, as the group includes people from all stages, pre-surgery and post, not to mention the wonderfully informed and caring staff. Hopefully you can make it this Friday, it's well worth investing the time to get all your questions answered. Hope to see you there, and good luck! Trudi
