Little Help Needed

We just moved here and my husband and I are trying to find an insurance plan that will cover both of our issues. My issue is I had WLS in February and need a surgeon to check up on me. However our choices are very limited, BCBS of Illinois, BCBS of Mass, and Tufts Health Plan. I was told with BCBSIL that as long as my coverage didn't lapse I should be able to get a surgeon no worries. However the other two were no help and couldn't even tell me if I would/could be covered. Currently we live in Lebanon and have family in the Manchester area. Does anyone know of a surgeon in either area who will take a 8 month post op patient with any of the above insurances? Mary, Every plan is different. I have Mass BC & I know Tufts people as well. Both have covered WLLS as far as I know. If there are no lapses in coverage it usually covers things. THere are surgeons at Dartmouth in Lebanon who do lots of WLS but I'm not sure about them picking you up post op. Pat

Mary, I work at DHMC and am post op as of 08/18/05. DHMC takes the insurances that you have listed. They have a great bariatric surgery program and lots of follow-up. We even have a graduates meeting the first Friday of every month. You can check the web site www.dhmc.org and go under departments and services to find their home page and an outline of the program. Karen- Thank you very much. With looking into and some calls we are going with BCBS of MA. Now all we have to do is submit the paperwork and have my charts sent from UCLA and the doctors at DHMC will see if they will take me on thank you for the help. I appreciate it. Thanks Mary
