Is there anyone on the message board who has had the Lap Band surgery? I have to make a decision soon. I would like to know what your experience was and how do you feel about the decision you made. Please email me: [email protected]. Thanks for your input Melissa

Hello Melissa, I had my band done on 8\25 At Cmc with dr. campbell. I have had no problems at all, i have lost about 19 pounds since 8/25, it has slowed quite abit. But i was back to normal and active in less than 2 weeks. The recovery time is so easy, the diet, gets old as i still am on fairly soft foods, but i know it will be worth it in the end. Really the band was the only decision for me, as i was not willing to rish the rny. hopethis helps Amanda

Amanda, Wow, I am glad your here. I wanted to chat with the other Lapband people from the CMC. I just attended the seminar last week there, and lapband is the way I am going too. They admitted to us that they had only done 3 Lapbands so far and you guys were making out great. Did Dr. Campbell tell you that you were the first people there to get it done? How long were you in the hosiptal? How was the staff? How long was the surgery? How much weight did they make you loose prior to surgery? Was that hard? Sorry for so many questions, but since I may be in the same hands as you I was just wondering. The fact that Dr. Campbell has done like 96 RNYs, I would imagine the Lapband was like a piece of cake to her. I understand when she does a RNY she has an assistant surgeon with her, but the Lapbands are so easy she does them alone. Thanks for the info! Wayne

Hi Wayne, Yes Dr. Campbell did make it very clear that we were the first ones to have the lap-band with her, but really that did not bother me at all, Infact i was the first out of the 3 on the 25th. My surgery was scheduled for 7:30, and Dr. Campbell had called my Mother by 9:30 saying everything went well. I was in the hospital just one night, I think i left around noon the next day. The staff was great! I can not stress this enough, they were so good. My situation was a little different than most, I had started the process with another Dr., who very suddenly stoped performing surgery. So i went to see Dr. campbell, the begining of August and she scheduled me for surgery. I did not actually go thru the program at CMC, Although the one i did go thru was very similar. I had to loose 15 pounds before hand, I beleive they make u loose about 7% of your weight. Which can be hard, but with a little focus is not bad. I am not sure about the assistant, I beleive there was a proctor there while she did our surgeries, since htey were the first. I go in for my fill in 2 weeks, I can't wait. You def feel restriction at first, as idid not want to eat much of anything.. and one of the reasons i lost so much at first. But I don't feel it as much as i did at the begining, (which they say is normal). Hope that answered your questions. Please let me know if you have anymore ~amanda
