2 weeks from today !!!
I went to the hospital today ( 2 weeks pre-op ) to have my intake interview / questionnaire with Nurse Lisa. I also met with one of the anesthesiologists, and he reviewed my chart and explained everything as well. They asked questions, and they answered my questions.
I started to get teary-eyed
when I was reading the list of risks of anesthesia, even though I've heard them all before. They asked me to SIGN on the dotted line.
I took a deep breath and signed the consent form.
But, it's TWO WEEKS from today ...
I am starting to freak -out !!!
I have NEVER had surgery under general anesthesia!
love,
Kym from NH

Oh Kim - I can just imagine how the jitters are starting to creep in on you! It is such a HUGE decision to pursue this surgery and you wouldn't be human if you didn't question the choices you make.
As you know, I'm pre-op so I can't tell you anything about this operation, but I have had gallbladder surgery (lap) and it wasn't all that bad. I felt pretty crappy the first day or two - getting over the anesthesia can take some time - it makes me sick to my stomach
[I know - gross] but once over that, the actual surgery was a piece of cake - in a manner of speaking! I was home the day after surgery and back at work in 2 weeks.
I'm here if you need to talk.......see you at group tonite.

Kym,
I am 10 days post op from Lap RNY @ Elliot hosp in Manchester. I feel AWESOME!!! my surgery was a cakewalk and I haven't even taken a single pain med since coming home. I am already eating a puree diet! I feel strong and healthy and have lost 14 lbs! my energy level has skyrocketed and I have to FORCE myself to rest. I can drive already and went to Walmart for an hour yesterday just to get out of the house. Not a single "dump" or "foam" so far!!!
I wish you all the success that I am feeling. May the Lord guide your surgeons hands and bless you with a speedy and healthy recovery!
2 things I didnt expect to be so bad...(1) I stink
, my breathe, my sweat, my poop/gas! I am covered in powder to absorb the "new" scent and brushing the enamel off my teeth!! (2) I itch!!! my belly is so itchy around the lap "holes" it is driving me batty! But heck, I feel great otherwise! 2 things I can live with.
good luck
amy
