I am at the beginning stages of investigating weight loss surgery. I think I have settled in my mind the lapband system, but I want to hear more personal experiences from people who have had it done at the CMC. Tell me what to expect etc? Love to hear from you. [email protected]

When I went to the informational meeting on August 24th, they were about to do their very first three on Thursday. They had completed training a while before. Melanie the RN at CMC handles appointment and a host of other things medical is on vacation until Monday. But give them a call...its only 2 hours out of your life for the information session Good Luck! Anne - PreOp 379/?/140

So the CMC has never even performed this surgery? I wasnt aware of that. Is Dr. Campbell the only surgeon doing the operation? Do you have a date yet? (By the way, I am signed up for Sept 19th I think it is for the seminar). How long does this surgery take? I wear my weight at my stomach mostly, will they reject me for Lapband System? Can you gain weight back after this surgery? Sorry about all the questions, I just dont like to walk into something like this blind

Hi Wayne, I am with Dr. Drinkwater at SNHMC ( having gastric by-pass RNY ) but this advice still applies Don't tell my mother-in-law that I said this, but she actually came forward with sound advice, LOL ! ( and my Aunt, who is an RN told me the SAME thing ) They have years of wisdom on me! If your surgeon has not performed at LEAST 100 of THESE surgeries, find another surgeon. That's a bold statement, and you can take it for what it's worth, but it sure made a lot of good common sense to me. I don't wanna be the guinea pig for anyone. Only YOU can decide, but please do a lot of research at several hospitals. Best of Luck on your journey! ~ Kym from Weare, NH

Thanks for your response. This New Hampshire message board is a bit quite. I think your advice is great. I know I wouldn't want to be a first timer for any surgery. I have heard that Dr. Campbell has done the RNY, but I have no data on how many etc. So I am going to attend the seminar at the CMC in September. I see on a different posting you mention a support group. Do they discuss surgery options there? Where is this being held? Do we have to sign up or just show up? Thanks Wayne
