I just found out that my husbands insurance may not cover WLS after Jan 1st. Do you think this is still an attainable goal for me that means I only have 4 months to have surgery. I know that I can lose the weight that I need for surgery. What you you all think Heather

Oh man... I hope you get it done in time.... people have done it so it is possible... it just puts a damper on things I can imagine. Good luck to you, and I hope they will still cover it after Jan. 1st!

Heather, I had my surgery in Boston and was thrilled. I called in May for an appointment for a consult, had the consult May 20, and they gave me a date of Aug 2, a little over 2 months away (it would have been sooner but I needed to be at work for July because of vacations). They will make all of your required appointments in 1 day so you only have to make 1 trip to Boston (nutritionist, psych consult, EKG, whatever you need). Then you have a final consult the week before surgery, meet the surgeon, and go to pre-op evaluation where they take a medical history and some blood. So, in all, 4 trips to Boston, and you can get there in an hour if you go after 9 or so. Definitely worth it. Also, my surgeon required no pre-operative weight loss, and I was not required to do any additional tests (no sleep study, EKG, PFT, nothing like that), blood work only. Just something to consider!
