Dilemma....

I have good news which also makes me a little concerned as well. First off, I GOT A JOB!!! I am so happy about it. But now Im concerned as well. For Dr. D's patients, and those of you who work as well... were you able to schedule your appts around your work hours, or did you have to take time off from work? I have a really good job opportunity right now, and Id hate to mess it up by asking for all sorts of time off, but I dont want to miss any appts either My work hours will be from : 8:30am-5pm.... Also for your medical workup, were all of your appts within the same day? Also, how long did you take off from work after surgery? Can my work place hold my surgery against me? I was hoping I was going to find a job soon, but at the same time kinda hoping it would be after my surgery..... Someone please

Hi Angela, At my work, we have " paid time off " which is used for vacation time, sick time, or whatever you want to use it for. However, we have to get permission. If the work schedule doesn't allow for folks to have time off, we have to take it as " unapproved " ( like an unexcused absence ). However, I have requested that all of my appts. ( especially the nutritionist - which is every month ) to be first thing in the morning, or as late as possible in the afternoon / evening. Then, I am only missing a few hours of work ( excused or not ) This makes everyone happy. If you can make an appt. early morning, you can come in a few hours late, right ? And ... yes, all of my medical work-ups were on the same day, early in the morning. Jen tries her best to do it that way intentionally. I showed up at the Lab at 7:45 a.m. I had an ultrasound, chest x-ray, EKG and blood work in Nashua, and I was at work in Manchester by 10:00 a.m. Talk to your new boss. People appreciate knowing what's happening up front. They don't like surprises. I wish you all the best !
