Nervous about Psych. Eval...
Hi Angela--
I don't have Dr. Drinkwater, but I know that from what I have read from other other profiles that the psych. eval. is pretty much the same as mine was. They go over family history, eating habits, eating triggers, diets or weight loss things you have tried in the past, whether or not you drink or use drugs, any depression or anxiety issues, ask if you have ever been suicidal, if you have ever hit someone in rage or anger. They ask what you know about the surgery, why you want it, how it will improve you/your health. They ask if you are aware of the risks involved with surgery, if you have any fears about surgery, fears about being put to sleep. They may ask you how you cope in certain situations where you are hungry and there is no food readily available to you. They just want to make sure that you realize that it is a very huge life changing surgery and know that it will alter you and the way you feel and deal with things. It is not anything to worry about. It was very easy and simple. Just lots of questions. If you are on here I am sure you are aware of all the risks and benefits of surgery. You will be fine.

Hi Angela,
You have absolutely nothing to worry about...Lori who you will meet with is the BEST!! You will sit down with her and she will ask you a bunch of questions. What they need to determine is that you completely understand the process you are going through and what lies ahead post-op. It's not bad at all. I actually enjoyed talking with her and felt much lighter emotionally coming out of my psych eval (and that was 8 months ago!!).
If you have ANY questions or need an understanding ear, please feel free to e-mail me. I'm 5 months post-op now and feel incredible. I never miss a support group so if you are at next week's meeting, please come over and introduce yourself.
Hope to see you next week.
GOOD LUCK with your journey...you've got the BEST surgeon IMHO.
Judy
