Any advice on who to see for a Psych exam?
Hello. I have already gone to 3 support groups, have been seeing my doc, had my blood work done and need to get the psych exam out of the way? Has anyone had one yet that can recommend someone in the Manchester area? I am trying to really get the ball rolling as I work for the state and our contract year will be up in July and I am afraid that they will stop covering this procedure then!!! Help!!
I believe the only one who does them in Manchester is Megan Duffy-Griffith. She is at Bedford Counseling Associates at 1228 Elm St. The number there is 623.1916. Here's the problem. I called April 1 for an appointment and the first they had was June 7. Then they called the next day and said Megan Duffy-Griffith would be out of the office and the rescheduled for late July. Luckily, they called the next day and had a cancellation and wanted me in an hour, but you can't bet on that. I called a lot of other counseling placed and none of them do it.
I was already seeing a counselor (for non-weight related family issues)and the program I was in allowed me to have my eval with her. They sent her the paperwork that needed to be done and she did all the questions and sent the eval to the program.
It was easier for me because she already knows me so well. You may want to call your program or physician to recommend someone in the area (my counselor is in Concord). When my son needed counseling, we had to leave Manchester in order to get him help sooner. Some things are worth the trip. Good luck!
