I'm a Newbie
welcome to the board. Your comment about knee replacement caught my eye. I was scheduled for partial knee replacement last summer and decided to postpone and persue the wls. Now at 4 months post op my knees feel so much better. Not saying that eventually I won't need the knee job but for now I'm getting around a lot better. Don't mean to ramble about myself but just to let you know that if you choose wls your knees might thank you.
best wishes for your journey.

I've had a fairly easy time of it, physically. No real complications from surgery. The doc I have is terrific and so is his staff. I've been able to tolerate most of the things I've tried to eat - tho I've stayed away from anything with suger and fried foods. I've lost about 60lbs since surgery - almost 80 total since last summer. Not the fastest weight loss but that's my fault, I admit I don't exercise as much as I should. I struggle with the emotions that go along with all the changes. Old eating habits keep trying to fight their way back in. Don't believe anyone if they try to tell you that this is the "easy" way to loose weight.
Make sure you learn as much as you can before making your decision. What is also important is to find a program with an active support group, where you can meet people in all stages of the process.
best of luck.
