southern nh/northern ma support group

Hi everyone, I am wondering if anyone is interested in starting up an informal support group which meets once or twice a month in the northern ma/southern nh area. It is so hard for me to get to Boston to my hosp support group and I thought it might be nice to get something started around here. I would even offer my own living room as a meeting place. Any takers? There was a nice one going in Methuen, but it has since died out.

The Obesity Center at SNHMC in Nashua has a support group that meets twice a month (first & third Wed. - all welcome) But you do say that you're looking for something informal... diane

Hi Kathy....That would be nice. I have four responses from the Mass board too. Maybe we could schedule a first meeting for my home and then see where things go from there. I am thinking about a Wednesday evening since that would be my one available night....Maybe a late Tuesday.

Wednesday night works for me as well. It's usually my one available night consistently. Keep me posted.

Kimberly, Portsmouth hospital runs a support group. It is the 4th monday of the month. I think there is also another group that meets another time in the month that is ONLY for post ops. It seems to be a nice group of people. I have only been twice. The next meeting is the 24th at 6:30 in the Shoals Building classroom of the hospital. You should give it a try. It's not too far from you. amy

Hi Kim, Portsmouth Hopsital does have two support groups. The 3rd Monday of each month is the general support group. We have speakers and discuss generalized information for everyone. This group meets at 6:30pm and it usually about an hour. This meeting is open to anyone regardless of sugical status. Family and friends are welcome to attend with you on these nights. The Post-Op group meeting is the 1st Monday of each month. This group is only for post-ops. This meeting begins at 5:30pm. We have the room until 7:30 but usually wrap up by 7pm. This group is open to any post-op, regardless of where they had surgery. We actually have quite a few Boston patients who attend our meetings from time to time.
