Where is everyone from NH!
Here I am... J/K anyways... Good luck to all of you in the process... it is a very long journey but I think it is very well worth it... I would do it all over again... Life is so different when you are not so big.... I started out at 406 lbs day of my surgery 05/15/03 and as of today I am weigh 230 lbs. My goal was 250 lbs I would have been very happy if I reached that weight... but 230 is even better... Remember tomorrow is another day... don't give up...
I live in Nashua. I moved up here from RI in June due to my hubby's job. I had my surgery in RI, but just had followup blood work done by my new PCP and everything came out great! My surgery was Dec 15, 2003, and I am down 76 pounds. I was a lightweight to begin with, and the loss has been somewhat slow, but I feel fantastic!
Good luck to you on your journey!!
Is there a NH support group anywhere?
Erica
There is a support group at Southern NH Hospital in Nashua that is held 2x/month. I am not sure if it is open or just for their pt's butyouy could call Jen at 577-5757 to find out more. Next meeting will be my 1st oin 8/11 & it starts at 6:30 I think. It would be great to meet you Erica. Welcome to NH & continued good health. Pat
Hi Pat, I am Patti from Epsom...My computer has had problems so have not been able to get on to much. Your right very quite board... I have my surgery six years ago yesterday Aug. 8 and have been maintaining my weight not without some struggle ever since. I lost almost 200lbs!. I still am always on a "diet" of some sorts. I am so afraid to gain it back. That along with exercise I do at least 3/4 times a week keeps me on track. I will try to write again. Keep in touch. I live nearby...so If I can help just let me know.
Hi Patti, Great to hear from you. I haven't been on the last few days because I ususally do this when things are quiet at work. I am glad to hear that you are maintaining your loss. I think we all have food issues we'll need to face for life so I'm not surprised to hear you need to watch what you eat now. Thanks for the encouragement & I'll take you up on your offer of support as I porgress through this LONG process. Thanks so much, Pat
Hi Everyone!
My name is Heidi and I just had my RNY done on 8/11 at Portsmouth Hospital. I actually live in North Hampton. We have a huge support group the 4th Monday of every month in the hospital classrooms and a post-op group that meets the 2nd Monday of every month (same place). The contact person would be Beth Chute 603-433-4960.
Surgery went really well for me. Laproscopy. In on Wednesday out on Friday. I feel great! I keep wondering if I'm going to turn a corner and crash, but keeping the positive attitude and hoping not.
Also, if any of you know anyone who can use business suits and dresses in sizes 22 through 26, please let me know. I used to be a bank manager and they're all in really good shape. In fact, I can admit that I had a shopping fettish and there is still some unworn items with the tags on them. I just want to donate them to someone/somewhere that they'll get good use.
Thanks and hope to hear from some of you soon!
Keep Smiling! Heidi
I'm in Hudson NH. I began the WLS process months ago at NEMC in Boston but after the psych eval and behavior mod classes, I got the final lack of approval from managed care/insurance. I feel like I was a bit misled by managed care, thus appealed the denial but it wasn't going anywhere and frankly, I didn't want to waste any more time.
I then revisited Dr. Drinkwater's program at SNHMC. I've been very pleased with this path thus far. I've met with the doc, he seems great. I've also heard him give an orientation which was informative certainly. Jenn, the program manager is easy to work with. The nutritionist Jane, is great, I get a kick out of her and she's helpful. Next comes the psych eval with Dr. Yudati, in a week. The support group meeting I attended proved helpful.
Sidenote: Heidi, I am wearing within that size range. I'd be happy to take a donation because I hate to buy new clothes given that my size changes on a regular basis. If you still have the booty, let me know. Thanks.
Peace,
K
Hi I am in Pepperell MA. I am in Dr. Drinkwater's program and I have my medical workup this week and I meet with Dr. Drinkwater to discuss a date on Monday! YEAH! I began the whole process in April. I think his program is great. My cousin is trying to get WLS in FL and there is no "program" where she is going - you just do everythign, and have the surgery. She feels a little lost right now - I am glad to have such a support system. I recently finished the Coping Skills class and miss the weekly gatherings with people who are going through the same thing. I feel like my friends and family are getting tired of talking about this. LOL
Jenn
I hear what you're saying about friends and family although they do like to ask questions and give their two cents or so about my decision. Especially my mother! lol Anyway, I agree. I think the program is very well organized and supportive. I feel positive about all of the players thus far. Dr. Yadati was very sweet, I just had my psych eval the other day. I hope I'm in the next Coping Skills class. I'm supposed to wait for Jenn to call but I am tempted to call her.
My nutritionist, Jayne, is leaving her position to go work with NICU. I will miss her, I like the way she conducts the nutrition visits. She's kinda cool.
The beat goes on. I'll be here and around. I hope to hear how things progress with others from this fine state of ours.
