I have my 1st support group meeting Thursday & my 1st appointment with Dr Drinkwater Friday. Can anyone tell me where on the hospital campus they are located? I have directions to the hospital. I am so excited & scared at the same time.

Hi Pat, I don't remember the address of the building for the support group but it is in the building to the right of the hospital on Prospect Street. It has it's own separate entrance and parking lot. The support group is in the basement. Dr Drinkwater is in the main hospital building on Prospect Street. You can park in the parking garage. He is on the second floor. Go in the main entrance on Prospect Street, walk straight ahead and there are elevators or stairs near the rear of the building. Best of luck. Keep us posted on how it goes. Drop a line if there is anything I can help you with. I had my surgery last February with Dr Drinkwater. He is fantastic. I have reached goal and am doing really well. I would recommend the program to anyone. The aftercare is fantastic. Best of luck. Hope to hear from you soon. Kathy 215/125/125 Open RNY 2/10/03

Hi Pat, I am Patti from Epsom. I understand your excitement and being scared also. Had my bypass Aug 6, 1998 in Boston....Lost about 200lbs!!!! Have been able to keep most all off but about 5 to 7 pounds I fight with..Thank goodness for Curves and low carb foods...If you would like to keep in touch please feel free to.. I know this is the beginning but the rewards done the road are great. Take good care of yourself Pat. Sincerely, Patti

Hi Patti, Thanks for the encouragement. I am so eager to get going but know it is a long haul. I've met the surgeon & have an appointmenmt with the dietitian to get started on diet changes & how much they want me to lose. I am looking forward to being well enough to exercise at at place like Curves. I have arthriutis in my hips & walk with a cane right now.

Kathy, Thanks so much for the info & encouragement. I met Dr Drinkwater Friday & was thrilled to get started. The program seems very thorough & supportive. I am eager to move along but know I need to be patient. I am looking forward to the support groups. Do you still attend? I'd love to keep in touch. Thanks so much. Pat

Hi, I think I may have attended the same meeting as you. I have my first appointment with Dr. Drinkwater this Thursday. I feel like I've finally taken the first steps (been procrastinating for a year now) and just want to get on with it. But it's taken me years to get to this place so what's a few more weeks/months?

Hi Pat! I just realized that you also have Dr. Drinkwater. Isn't he fabulous? How did your meeting with him go? Have you been to a support group meeting yet? The next meeting I believe is on 8/11, the date of my surgery. I may be wrong, as I don't have the schedule in front of me, but that rings a bell for some reason. I hope we get to meet some time!
