It is all working out that way anyway. I think the words LAS and VEGAS may be in the travel plans...i hope i hope i hope! I am also uemployed and havent found anything!!! So a trip away would be nice. Thought I would write more after I read your profile! Chris

Hi Chris, I totally agree with you. This message board is very slow. I would love to contribute to livening it up a little. I got my surgery date of 5/24/04, and I am getting very nervous but I know this is the right thing for me. I also want to be there for my kids and husband. I started all of this at the end of December so it has been a little over 4 months. I can't wait to have the surgery behind me. Have a great day! Kristin

Hey! What doctor are you with? I have Dr. Drinkwater. The program is great. I can't wait till I have a date!! I am so nerfous about long term affects, but I KNOW the affects of MO. I need to be around for my kids. I am deciding on who to tell....my husband, parents, and 4 friends know. I havent told the inlaws yet. I am hesitant because MIL is a big GOSSIP. I might as well take an ad in the boston globe! Are you telling everyone? Thanks for livening up this board! NH is so small I think if we get the board going, we could eventually have functions and parties. I am a very social person and would love to meet everyone. Take Care! Chris

I have not told many people either, Most of my family are in Virginia and I have this great fantasy about surprizing them. Like they do on those extreame makeovers. So hopefully I will have my surgery this summer and next summer the new me will go down and see everyone. I surpose it is sort of mean, but my sister has always been smaller than me. She is a little plump maybe 30 or 40 lbs overweight. But I have always wanted to be smaller than her just one time. Chris

I grew up in Illinois and I have a fantasy of showing up at my best friends house acting like the IRS saying they owes thousands of dollars and getting her all pumped up and then take off my sunglasses and see if she recognizes me. Is that bad or what?? We have been friends for 26 years now! And we are only 30. That would be so great. Also just to be at a party with all of my friends/family not knowing I was there and listening to them. It is so weird but I would LOVE to do that! My sister is 7 years older and has always been thinner too. She kinda rubbs it in. Passsive aggressive like. "Oh this shirt you let me borrow just hangs on me..." said in a whiney voice.....That kind of crap. Makes me feel awfull, but I never let it make me act towards her that way. I am the better person too I think. Have a great one! Chris

MAy 24th isnt far away now! I also feel this is going to save my life. I cant wait to run and play ball with my kids. Take them to the park and not sweat just by pushing them on the swings. Its the little things that "normal" sized people take for granted. Good luck with your procedure! Where are you having it done? Chris

Hi Chris.. WLS is a life changing experience and I am so happy that I got on board! I had my lap RNY on Jan. '04 and am almost 4 months out. I am no longer a diabetic, my cholesterol is normal now and my BP is normal with only 2 pills instead of 5. My energy is getting stronger everyday and I am so happy. I also lost 50 lbs. My doc thought that was a little slow..so now, finally, someone believes me when I said I was a slow loser!! All the docs thought I was cheating when on diets and wasn't losing. Anyhow, Good luck with everything. You will be around a lot longer for your kids with the surgery...just my honest opinion...Hugs..MJ

HI MJ! I am glad to hear you are doing well. I am pre-diabetic and hope to get rid of it after surgery. I dont want to live with that. It runs in my family. Nice to know you have proof that it is hard for you to loose weight! Take Care Chris

Hey, NH!!!! I tried this board quite a while ago, and found so few messages so far between that I got discouraged!! Glad to see the Board picking up a bit!! I had a lap RNY at Catholic Medical Center on May 3, just over a week ago. So far, my recovery has been a bit rocky, but I am hoping to settle down to reasonable progress now. I have 2 very painful co-morbidities which affected my early post-op time, but I'm home now and doing much better. As I am 58, I mostly post on the Over 50 Board (a great Board!!). It's really late for me, so I'm just posting now to sat "Hi!" to everyone...will try to post more in the future!! Nanajean in NH
