Hi all! I think we should beef up this NH message board! I am pre-op and looking forward to joining the loosing side soon. I started looking into it in Febuary. I asked my PCP and he said I was a great candidate. I have heard about this surgery for years, but always thought it was too extreme. Well, now my opinion has changed and I need this to save my life. I am Dr. Drinkwater's patient and so far am very impressed with him and the staff. When I grow up I want to be just like Jen, his coordinator! I am however nervous about the procedure. Risks and all that stuff. I have seen Sue the nutr. and have lost 8 lbs. I have to loose 20. So I am on my way. I have had the pscyh. eval. and am sane believe it or not. I see Sue next Wednesday and she will say if I can continue on with the classes. I have 2 little ones and they need me to be around. Comorbidities are already starting to show up. I wont make it to 40 if I dont do this. I would love to hear everyones story. I also like to yack yack yack, so if you are a talker, let me know!! Bye Chris

I agree with you Chris. This message board needs to be livened up. What's up with people around here. We need to be there for each other through this huge transition in our lives. I am a part of the BAF message board and they are awesome. We are like a huge family. Anyway I am at the tail end of everything before my surgery. I go see the surgeon, Connie Cambell of CMC's treatment obesity center on Wed 5/12. Hopefully I will get my surgery date then. I started my journey on March 3. So far things have progressed rapidly for me(thank God). I also have two children ages 11 and 6. I am 29 and engaged to the love of my life. Hoping to be married in October 04. Email me anytime.

Hey Chris! Denise here; another of Dr. Drinkwater's patients. Were you at the support group meeting last Wednesday? I looked for a Chris name tag, but didn't see one. Are you going to the next one? That will be my last one before the big day!!! Denise

Yes I was at the support group on Wed. I was sitting next to the lady who was talking about having diareah a lot after surgery and had her friend help her. I was wearing a grey Patriots t shirt and bright red pants! I have blonde hair and glasses. And of course I am a big girl. I will try to go to the next meeting. I cant always find a sitter. I hope I can go to wish you lots of luck! God Bless and take care! Chris

Hi Chris, We were sitting on the same side of the room. I was sitting a next to one of the women who spoke. She was a recent post-op (Leanne). Remember that guy who was talking about taking care of your eyes? Remember when he said, "I can only see half you all".? I am the one who said, "Well, that is a good thing!". Anyway, I wish we could have met. Maybe at the next one. Denise

I live in Nashua, is this the support group meeting at St. Joes on Wednesday nights...? What time does it start...? I haven't been to a meeting in a long while and it would be nice to go back... I have lost 180lbs since my new life started 5/15/03.... It has been a journy.... but a great one indeed....

Hey Jeff, welcome to the board! The support groups are on different nights. The next on is Tuesday May 18th at 6:30. They take place at SNHMC on Prospect street in Nashua. It is in the building next to the hospital on the lower floor. The one after that is June 9th and it is a clothing swap. I hope to see you there! Chris
