Anyone have any suggestions on how to get some protein in? I can't seem to stomach it. I finally have found a drink I like but I can get protein in. I need to figure that out. Any help I can get it will be great.

Thanks

Nancy,
If you can't deal with the carnation instant breakfast, there is Unjury.  I know it is a little expensive, but I bought some and it was so worth it.  I love the chicken broth.  You can add chopped chicken to it when allowed, but it was different then all the chocolate and mocha I was drinking.  Now when I make chicken soup for the family I always add some protein powder to make sure Hubby &  I are getting what we need as well.  The boys don't know the difference.  I know eggs can get boring, but try scrambled with cheese, poached, or even hard boiled.  Egg salad saved me more than once.  When you can handle hard cheese (like Cheddar) I love the baby bell's they are 6g of protein each in the light and they are 50 calories.  great snack.

Hope that helps.

Ohhh I just remembered a recipe that I enjoyed early out around the holidays

1 packet SF Apple cider (instant mix- found it by the tea's in the grocery store or Christmas tree)
1 scoop Vanilla protein powder

make it warm and it taste like apple pie and vanilla ice cream yummy
Hope you find something to get you through this tough time just keep plugging you will make it.!!!!

 Sookie,

Thank you. The Apple Cider recipe sounds great. I might give that one a try today.

I don't know if I get eat eggs yet, I have heard some people say its ok and read that its ok for Phase 2 but I am going to wait. I can't stomach chicken broth, I had it at the hospital and since then I have had no desire to try it again. But I figure it will work when I can get chicken and veggies in to at least cook them in and give them some flavor.

Thanks again, sometimes I feel like I am messing this all up but then I realize there is really no way to mess this up as long as you stick with it. I just want to make sure before I return to work next week that I have away to get protein in because otherwise I am never going to make it through the day.

Nashua Nutrition sells protein powder samples, including the Syntrax Nectar drinks, which I really like.  I'd also suggest adding unflavored protein powder to your foods.  Early out that is how I got in most of my protein: applesauce and s/f pudding mixed with unflavored protein powder.

Unflavored unjury in broth works great juts make sure you don't make th ebroth to hot or you will end up with protein dumplings. I alos put the unflavored stuff in crystal light. Also online there is a site called bariatric choice  - their stuff it a bit expensive but they had some flavores I could tolerate when I wa sfirst out that I did okay with. Hang in there!

 Thank you for the suggestions.

I just found out about Nashua Nutrition at a support group on the 28th. I plan on stopping by there next week.

I have gotten a little better but its more the smell that makes it so hard for me to the the protein powders in.

Thanks again

I haven't attended any of the support groups, as I live over an hour away and I just don't think they will be that beneficial to me.  Can I ask how you like the support group and how it was structured?  I fear that it will be a lot of preops asking questions they could easily find the answers to, and to be truthful, I don't want to waste 3 hours of my time if that is what the group is like.

well the first 45 minutes is for under a year and the last 45 mins over a year. There is no structure other then that. I was nice to just get out and talk to others who have been through this as well. But you can get a lot of the same help from here. I am just closer and it gives me time to meet people who have had WLS and to get out and know I am not the only one who is doing this since I don't have anyone close to me who has had it done.
