1 week out!!

Not sure if I am happy or still confused....its been a tough week to be honest. Once I got home from the hospital I had a few days were I wasn't sure I made the right choice, its been hard to take care of myself and my kids at the same time with the holiday and everything but my husband has been doing his best. Yesterday was my first day without pain meds, and no brake down...I am doing so so today....I can't seem to get any protein drinks in they just turn my stomach but I am at least eating and drinking water normally now, well normally for a week out, I wish I could get a little more of everything in but I think for the 1st week I am doing good.

Any suggestion? I see everyone for my 2 week follow up after the new year and I feel like I am going to go a little crazy by that time. My family is being so understanding and great but at the same time I don't have anyone close who knows what I am going through.

Thanks for reading.
Just needed to get it off my chest before it eat away at me.

To a tee, I'm also doing OK so far. This morning I was a little dehydrated...dizzy...sweaty. Had some water and felt fine in 10 min. I too am having a time with protein shakes...they didn't bother me before but now they taste yuck.  been going back and forth between them and no sugar added instant breakfast mix with skim milk,  My arms are killing me from lifting myself up from the chairs.

I was planning on going back to work after next week....I dont think it will happen.

Nancy the worst is behind us now.

 Jodjr,

Thanks for reminding of the instant breakfast mix, gonna, have my husband grab some for me tomorrow.....I am so happy right now. I know I will be able to stomach those.

I was suppose to return to work tomorrow, but I stopped by there on Friday and explain that things just weren't going as I had thought that they would and they told me to take as much as I needed as long I as and getting better, I think next week I will be up to going back.

You are right the worst is behind us!! Thanks for the help again!!!

Hope you both are feeling a bit better today.  The first few weeks  are the hardest and trying to get what you need in is very difficult.  It is exhausting trying to get up and out and do anything because your body is revolting against what you have done to it.  but know this it is so worth all the hassles and this time next year you will be so happy.  Wishing you both the best and hoping this week goes well for you both.

You may be only one person in the world, but to someone you are the world

 Jodjr,

Doing a little bit better. I tried the instant breakfast it worked by I can only take in about 10-12 sips before Im full and I don't want anything. Then the rest of the day I have to force myself to eat because I am NEVER hungry. I am going to my first post-op meeting tonight, hoping to get some help there.

Even though I haven't been able to drink or anything I am keeping myself hydrated and nuritioned. I guess that is all I can ask for.

It will pass. How often are you eating and drinking?

Your doing better than me for sure!! Good for you. My Doctor said no food for me for 2 weeks...I am drinking 3 protein shakes a day.... .no food!!!  Next week  go on pureed foods and  can't wait.  Got out today...my tummy is still sore...but each day seems better.

Got crazy tonight and added some decaf instant coffee to my shake.....mmmmmm dinner!!!

I went to a post op support meeting at the OTC tonight it was great. To have everyone tell me what I was feeling was normal its nice to have others to talk to.

Sorry that you don't get to eat anything. Tuesday I go for my 2  week and I will be on phase 3 I'm not sure what it means but I know it means a little more food.

I finally found a drink I can stomach that isn'****er, Sobe Life Water. I am in love with it.  I now just need to start getting a little more protein in me and a little more food so I don't get so tired during the day. Next week is going to be the hardest thing for me. Returning to work, I never ate at work before cause I only work 6 hours now I am going to have to make sure I pack a good amount of food other wise I will be at the kitchen asking them to make me something.

You'll get there. Go to hear you got out, I think it helps.
