Frustrating Stall... Suggestions?

I am 4 months out.  I did amazing and I'm so thankful, but I'm shocked at how my weight loss has basically just come to a screeching halt.  Is this normal?

According to the doctors, I have 43 pounds to lose to hit "goal", which is at the top of my weight range.   Naturally, my goal is slightly more.  I'm not ungrateful, really.  I'm feeling great and able to get into a size Large and probably about a Women's 14 pant.  (I haven't been shopping lately.  Just using buckets of old clothes I haven't seen in a long time.)

I've started this week to up my exercise.  I'm trying to up the protein and water.  I'm taking my multi-vitamin and trying to make sure I get my calcium.

I've lost only 7 pounds this past month.  I've been playing with the same pound for 10 days.  I try to remind myself that it's "progress, not perfection".  I find that I can eat more and slipped into a bad cracker habit that I've since curtailed.

What was your experience?  When did you stop losing?  I didn't expect to be maintaining this early out.

Thanks for listening!

Debbie,
you are in a stall and it happens to all of us.  You will lose again your body is just adjusting again.  You may need to change up what you are eating and how many calories you are consuming.
You may not be getting enough calories, I know it is strange to say that, but if you have questions about it you can always call or e-mail Jackie. (our NUT).   I stall all the time and I am still losing soooooo slowly.  I had a huge stall (in my mind) at about 6-7 months out but I did start again and the last 12 pounds is going to haunt me.   It is hard to realize how long it took us to gain the weight and then how quickly it starts coming off.  Just relax a little and know you will lose again if you follow your plan and use your tool.  hugs

Hi Debbie,

Do not give up!  You have come a very long way.  This is just your body adjusting to what you have done in the last 4 months.  Think about where you are in comparison to where you were.

However, here are some ideas!  I cut out starches completely.  I do not eat bread, potatoes, high sugar fruits and veggies.  Also change up your exercise.  Believe it or not, you body adjusts to what you are doing, and sometimes you just need to change.  Do a different type of cardio, change up your weight training.  Any little thing can make a difference.

I also was very surprised at how much my portions had crept up to a unhealthy size! It might be worth weighing and measuring again for a bit.

Finally, just relax.  Don't try too hard.  You need food to fuel your body.  If your body is not getting enough, it will shut down.  Make sure you are eating enough and the right foods.

Hang in there, it will turn back around!

I am in the same boat Debbie !  I have not lost since August 11th...I have the same two pound window that just keeps going up and down.  Met with the nutritionist yesterday and she said I am not eating enough.  Go figure .... So, I am now going to eat a bit more and up protein and hopefully that shakes things up.  She suggested two shakes a day again.  I looked up some new recipes for protein drinks and will be trying them out, I will let you know if they are any good !  I still have at least 28 pounds to lose, preferably more !

I was reading on someone else's page that they found that when they increased their calorie content they were able to kick start the weightloss again.  She figured that her body was just in starvation mode and most likely she was right.  Good luck
