3 days post op!!
So weird saying it... had surgery on July 19th at 7.30am. Dr. Campbell rearranged my surgery as she had tougher cases to contend with and didnt want me sitting around all day wondering when I would be getting my surgery done.
Surgery day I was extremely out of it... would wake up and fall asleep without warning from all the drugs. Pain from the surgery wasnt bad, however the gas pains in my shoulders KILLED! And I was over sensitive to all the stuff they were giving me so they loaded me up on nauseous medicine to help keep my tummy in check. Lord knows I do not want to throw up AT ALL!!
Day two was a bit better, achey all over, and the water wasnt as fulfilling as I had hoped!
However day 3 and going home was the best! I felt great... had a good nights sleep, walked as much as I could, and go my phase 1 diet started. Chicken broth and apple juice have never tasted so good!!
Today was my 1st real day home, not thinking I took the baby (she's 1 and weighs 22lbs) from my oldest as she had fallen and bumped her head. DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT LIFT OR HOLD ANYTHING UNLESS YOU ARE SITTING DOWN. The strain from holding her up on my chest was too much even for the 15 seconds before my oldest took her away. She has been a GREAT help with the babies... feeding them, changing them, picking them up so they can sit with me.
I did go through the "why did I do this to msyelf", "this is the biggest mistake and I want food now" phases. Thanks to Deb C. and hearing how she is almost back to normal makes me feel GREAT!! To know there is real food in my future and I wont have to live on soup and protein shakes forever is exciting!!

I am still so nauesous every day, especially in the morning when I wake up. I have the hardest time getting all my protein and water in. I feel like crap more than not... I have a feeling it is from me pulling some muscles lifting the baby when I first got home. Had some serious regrets, however today after a friend from one of my lifestyles classes sent me an email talking me down off the ledge I am feeling a bit more positive.
The only thing I have managed to do without any effort is my excercising... it has been so hot so I have been doing my Wii Fit step aerobics for 20+ mins a day, then playing some of the games with the kiddos.
I know this will work for me, I am already down 6lbs since surgery but the food mush and the small phases are killing me! I am learning how to work the tool but I miss the real food (summer bbq chicken and fresh garden salads!)

I was fortunate that I wasn't really nauseous, but I can feel for you, I hated the times I did get that way. You can let your DR know that you are nauseous every day and they may per scribe something for you. Now I use Altoids wintergreen SF mini mints, not recommended so early out though.
I remember last year thinking I would kill for a salad. Go figure the fat chick wanting a salad lol but that is what I was so bummed to miss out on the fresh veggies of summer, but it does get better. You will not be on mushies for ever.
It took me almost 5 weeks to get all my protein in and the water that was my hardest thing to get the fluid amount in, it does get easier I promise. It makes don't over due on the exercising right now let your body heal. Did your Dr clear you for exercise? I just don't want you to make yourself more miserable, listen to your body if it needs rest, then rest. Walking is great and it seems to be a bit cooler today. good day for a walk outside :-)
Hope your days go quickly and you heal super fast!!!
