Hey everyone!!!!

Went in for bypass on Tuesday 5-17-11 came home yesterday (Friday)...I am healing now and taking things very slowly...It is amazing how exhausted I get so quickly.... but I am happy to be home!! The procedure went well and I even had a problematic gallbladder removed in the process. Kind of like a two-fer!!! "-)

I am finding that the gas I was worried about is certainly coming out!! (sorry did not mean to gross anyone out). My tummy is gurgling a lot and it feels different, you know, like the gurgling is going if a different direction than before. Very odd feeling.
I am working on waking an making sure I get my protein and water in...also multi-vitamin and calcium in addition to the Roxisett (not sure how to spell that...the pain med). I find drinking to be challenging...I get full fast...but still have the low level pain in areas.

Leading up to my surgery I was doing intensive Reiki, Polarity and Reflexology - I am working with a practitioner in Dover (she is awesome with Bariatric issues and very non judgmental) who was working with me pre-op, then at the hospital and now at my home...I think this has made a bid difference for me - I was a total skeptic but I feel it was beneficial...so anyone going struggling, going in soon or just out a and healing, I highly recommend these energy therapies as a compliment to your process!

Anyhow.....So far so good and I am working on feeling better! Thank you all for your encouraging words and support....hope to chat with you and see you soon... can't wait until i get to ride a bike!Xico

So glad for you, it takes time, let your body heal and listen when it  wants to rest.  Sip and sip and sip, you won't get it all in to start but you will soon enough.  Just take your time and enjoy the ride.   Glad things went well and you are home.

You may be only one person in the world, but to someone you are the world

Thank YOU! - Sookie.....yea I was so glad for the tip about the pillow on the ride home...that was lifesaver on those bumpy Wakefield roads....... Dr. G was wonderful I have my follow-up with him this Thursday. Overall it went very well. I am working hard on getting the fluids and protein in....IT IS HARD but I am being patient with myself. I also find that I am overly ambitious with wanting to do stuff and get tired fast so I need to pace things.....anyhow hope to meet you at the next post op support group!!!!  Xico

Hey Martha!!! Yea I am so happy... feeling better everyday!  Liquid diet is a *****allanging tho....I long for something solid but my pouch is very trneder. :-( So I have to baby it.

Yes I do want to touch base with you  - I actually want to discuss setting up a  WLS hiking and outdoors meet-up group with you... like a low-key four season NH activity group... i have joined  a few of the met-up groups through that site and think it is great. It is free to set up but requires some planning. What do you think? Would you be interested? Or know anyone interested in this too?

I am off this week and probably most of next week, I know you are working closer to home now.. :-)  Wanna see if we can connect sometime next week? Would love to cathc up!

Oh,  the practitioner I see in Dover practices right out of the wellness center next to the Herbal Path on Central Ave. Her name is Vally and here is her web-site  www.Vv-Wellness.com
You can try out a session with her, she is very flexible with plans etc. and has been awesome...I left a coment on her site.  -

Well, hope to connect soon - Xico

Congrats Xico and Welcome to the Post-Op Club!  I had my surgery 3 weeks ago tomorrow and already feel it was one of the greatest decisions of my life.  Feeling good, but YES, I hear you on the tiredness thing!

Best wishes and good luck in your recovery!

Hey Debbie - Thanks and congrats to you too!  If you don't mind me asking, how long did you stay out of work for?  Just curious, I am trying to figure out my body and had originally thought of returning back to work next Monday but rethinking that a bit now..... anyhow hope to meet you at group! - :-) Xico

Well, I'm fortunate enough that I don't work outside the home, so luckily I didn't have to figure that out. I do feel that one day I feel invincible and have lots of energy, but then I Peter out. Yesterday, I decided to take a little nap and woke up 5 hours later. It fluctuates, I guess, or maybe I just do to much some days and pay for it the next. Don't be in a rush. Take time for you and this journey. Work will wait. : ). Good luck!
