Stuck on plateau
I haven't been here in a long time. I'm 18 mo's post op and stuck at 90 lbs lost. I've been teetering back and forth with 4 or 5 pounds for the last 8 months. : (
I'm pretty sure I can tell you it's sugar. M&M's, Candy Corn, whatever holiday candy is going by...and there is always one or another. I eat well all day, still go to the gym at least 4 times a week and yet...
I was never a sugar addict before (at least I didn't think so****il I really couldn't have it anymore. Now when I put one bite in my mouth, it opens up a door to non-stop munching. especially in the evening. I'm fine all day at work when I'm busy.
I think I need to go back to the support groups. I still have a ways to go to goal.

Okay Diane.....BACK AWAY FROM THE CANDY CORN!!! Why are you still having that in the house!??? Do I have to yell at you again! But seriously, I know the feeling about the plateau, I have been there for about a year. It is tough, but look at it in a different light. You have lost 90 pounds, and you have not put it back on. We would love to have you back to our meetings. Our poor lap band group is getting smaller and smaller! But most important, you need to get your friends and family behind you, supporting you in your stuggle with sugar. Remember, you can have it, but you really need to limit what you take in, so instead of having it in a bowl, where it is easy to just take a handful, buy single serving sizes (if you have to buy it at all!). That way, you have to make the concious decision to get the package, open it, and eat it. It will not become mindless at that point.
Just some thoughts. We still need to get together for lunch when you are in Concord! I miss seeing you!

Diane,
welcome back, I am not a bander, but I know sugar is a huge problem!!!! Good for you for knowing this is the problem. That is the first step to taking back control. Is there a way you can get rid of the candy? For me out of sight is out of mind. My downfall and trouble spot is bread, actually asiago cheese bread. I can pass about any other kind so when I hit the store if it is out I have to avoid that end of the store. I know at times we all need a good kick in the butt, so consider yourself hugged and welcomed back to where you need to be.
