Got Approved almost 2 weeks ago but no date set

Hey guys I am a bit confused. I had my meeting with Dr Gens last month and have met all of my pre surgery goals, attended the classes, met Jackie 2 times, etc. I got informed almost 2 weeks ago that my insurance has approved the WLS for me. I have yet to hear from the Dr. office to schedule the surgery or even to schedule my second MD appointment, is this normal or should I call the Office to put a spur under their butt?

Two weeks seems a bit long for them to set up a date (I got mine in just a few days).
I would give them a call and see whats up. there might be something going on you aren't aware of or things may have been lost in the shuffle.

It took me about 10 days due to one of the Drs. being on vacation. I gave them a call and they explained the hold up, once I got the date everything went real fast.  Two weeks from scheduling date to the losers bench.  Good luck, see you on the bench.

Hi there,

Have you given the office a call yet? I would suggest you do that as well.  If you haven't, please let me know and I can give them a call on your behalf as well.  Good luck and congratualtions!

Best regards,

Grant

Thank you all for the great advice. I was delayed getting back on here after I posted. I got a call from Dr Gens office shortly after I read the first reply. I will be joining you all on the losers bench on 10/5/10.

Thanks,

Ron

I'm new here,,,  but.......    Dr Gens okayed my insurance at the same time, and I was also wondering about my 2nd appot. wih him.....  I got tired of waiting so I called them and explained that I need to have a time frame for the surgery for my work.... ,, well, they have a tentative date 'october 26', and if I hadn't called, they wouldn't have told me....   They're waiting to hear back from the second surgeon, whether she is also available on that date... So , I'm just waiting for them to confirm on that doc and I suppose they'll confirm the date of surgery.....    I hope you've set up your per-op visit with the nurtritionist, don't wait. It took me 3 weeks to get in with her, and you Have to see her before the surgery...  "I saw her today".  This looks like a great forum, the nutritionist told me about it today...  I've been on another forum "thinnertimes.com" which has been a great source of info for me...  But,  I am also here now,,,  So,,,,   perhaps it's time you did call Dr Gens and see whether they have a tentative date for you as well ! ! !   Good Luck ! ! !
