Losing weight... pre-op
For many of you this may be a "duh" moment, but for myself I am taking this information to the bank! I've always been told breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I almost never eat breakfast, rarely eat lunch, and then stuff my face with food at dinner or after I put the kids to bed. I justified these actions because I have two small and active children and I needed to get them ready for school and get their breakfast. At lunch, I am usually way too busy at work to grab a bite to eat. Well, I need to lose 15lbs for surgery, and I started out by just cutting carbs. I lost 4lbs that way in a week. Then for the next two weeks, nothing. I was reading a lot of posts on here and people saying how important it was to eat breakfast to kick start your metabolism. Essentially, the message was eat food to lose weight! Totally illogical, as far as I was concerned, but I figured I would give it a go. So for the past 9 days, I have made the time to eat breakfast shortly after I wake up, and I bring something small but adequate for lunch. I have also upped my water intake to about 1.5 gallons a day. Well, I have noticed I'm not having anymore hypoglycemic feelings, I'm not stuffing my face at night, and I have lost an additional 5lbs! Long story short, it really works! Who would have thought you had to eat to lose weight!?
