Blue Cross Experience

Has anyone had any experience with Blue Cross?  I am at the beginning of everything & know they cover surgery, but just curious what issues others have encountered when it comes to actual approval.  Hopefully I can head of any issues before they arise.

Thanks in advance for the advice!

There is no need to look back unless you plan on going that way!

That was the biggest thing I worried about too.  They approved me within 24 hours.  I was scared because I only met one requirement, my BMI was over 40, but nothing else.

I've had no problems at all with BCBS. They even paid for my panni removal.
Good Luck

Thanks everyone!  It is a bit of a relief to hear they are good about it.

I think Blue Cross is one of the best insurance to have for this surgery.
I got approval in less than 48 hours which allowed me to get surgery before the new year and saved me LOTS of money!
Of all the things to think about with surgery dont worry about the insurance... it all gets worked out!

I also have BCBS and had absolutely no problems.  In fact, the policy that our business had originally would not cover the insurance, but they worked with me so we could change the insurance to a policy that would cover it, and even gave it to me at a reduced rate for the remainder of the year.  I got approved in 2 days, and they paid for the repair of the hiatal hernia also.  I have not had a problem with them since.

I have Anthem BCBS also, and I am just starting out.  I am nervous about the approval process as well.  They sent me an email saying that it is covered when medically necesssary, I'm just wondering how many hoops I will have to jump through.  These comments are all very encouraging though!
