I am one week out from Lap RNY and had my first egg this morning. As Weigh****chers once said, "nothing tastes as good as Thin feels."  Just the nothing was awesome. Anyone in southern NH recently operated on?  Any hints for a Newbie?

Congratulations on your recent surgery.  I am not a newbie, but I wanted to offer the following advice:

Sip, Sip, Sip tha****er - all day long.  If you can't get the water down, try putting a little lemon in it or try some warm herbal tea.  In any event, getting as close to your fluid and your protein goals are the most important things right now.  Also, try to get up and walk around as much as you can - but don't overdo it!

Welcome to the loser's bench!

I am doing great and walking and already went grocery shopping, no lifting of course. Is there something wrong with me that I can eat a 5-6 oz yogurt? Isn't that too much?  I am a little nervous?

I am not quite to the losers bench yet, but  my thoughts are this and I am sure others will help as well.

how long does it take you to eat that 5-6 oz? it should be 10 minutes an ounce, also yogurt is almost as thin as a liquid and may slide right through, call you Nut if you are not sure.  Did you get post op meal directions?  How much, how often, protein, fluids?  Stick by them they will help you heal and be the best you can be.

Good luck and I hope to join you soon on that side of the bench!
Welcome aboard and Congrats

Hi there,  congrats on making it to the losers bench. Wow one week out and you can have eggs? My surgeon only allowed clear liquids week one, then 3 weeks of full liquids 2 weeks pureed
2 weeks ground and then week 8 was full food menu. This give the pouch time to heal...I know all doctors are different so certainly go by what your team says.
Yogurt is a slider food and I bet you will find that some days you can take in what seems like alot and other days you will have a few spoonfulls and no more will go down. Just chew chew chew and sip sip sip...remember to stop drinking 30-60 minutes before your meal and at least 30-60 minutes after.
Good luck and I hope you have a trouble free journey...Laurie

Thanks so much for the reply. i am on my second week and eating soft foods and really doing well. I do find if I have eaten a bit too much the burps come up and I feel the pouch almost like relieving itself and breathing. Is that normal?

the burps tell me to "stop eating thats enough" if i dont listen my pouch gets angry and lets me know!

Have you started eating any veggies. I would love to try steaming some. Are you eating chicken? DOes it bother you. This is a weird question, but did the surgery give you bad breath? Since surgery, I feel it has and I have never had that awful taste in my mouth.
