Surgery at CMC
Jen,
Thanks for your reply. I'm going crazy at work and trying to decide if I'm even returning next year -- so surgery is on the back burner -- they called yesterday to offer me a spot in the life style class (I think that's what it's called, the 6 week class.)
I have to try and take it, but I'm not sure I have the energy in my life right now.
I am going nuts.
As far as lapband vs. rny, I have an open mind, it's just that my PCP said lapband. We'll see after my appointment with the PA.

Hi Annie,
Well, your post slipped by me. I am a lap bander, and I for one, have never regretted my decision, or wanted to change it. I had surgery August 15, 2008. Although my weight has stablized right now at a number I am not ready to stay at, I have lost a total of 65 pounds, and have kept that off. The band is not for everyone. For me, I wanted to take control, and not have my body dictate what I could or could not eat. I wanted to change my behaviors that I have accumulated over many years. It has been a hard road, but I have learned so much about me, food, and behaviors it still astounds me.
I know you have other things going on, and to be truthful, this would not be the best time to undertake this journey. You do need to be focused. Do not give up entirely on the process though. Ultimately the final decision is yours, and yours alone. You should not do what your PCP wants, or other people tell you to do. You need to do what is right for you. It may be the band, it may be gastric. But it has to be your decision!
