Can a laptop be used at CMC during a hospital stay?

 You should be able to.  If this is for you to use during your stay for surgery, you probably won't feel like it but whoever is with you should be able to use one while waiting.

Yes, there is wireless and you can get online. If you have a laptop or netbook, though, I would advise that you not leave it overnight. Have whoever comes to visit you bring it for you.

You probably won't feel like using it for at least the first day...but if you have kids visiting, it is a good entertainment source to pass the time.

I loved CMC. Nursing staff is top notch, the best around! My only complaint is the rooms are very small. If you have to share a room, it is pretty crowded and a bit stressful. If you don't have a roommate, it is quite nice and they do try to allow for single occupancy when they are not full. Suzette

I will pass your comment about the nursing staff on to my daughter.  She's one of those nurses, and I know she'll be happy to hear that!
