Post op meeting Lap Banders
Portsmouth group had their post op meeting last night, and it was so good to see so many new faces, and many old ones. What I was sad to see was when we split into the lap band group, although I heard many people say that they had the lap band, and some were struggling, only three of us showed for the meeting, and three came in just for the lap band meeting.
I guess my point is, if you are struggling, wouldn't it make sense to stay for the meeting that is specifically designed for you? Our choice of surgery is completely different from gastric bypass. You learn so much from others at the meeting. So next post op meeting, why don't you give us a try. You might just like it!!

I agree Martha! I wish I could attend the 530 pm group meeting too but I dont get out of work on time.. But I think its important to make it to the lapband one because as a newbie (6 weeks out) I really appreciate the advice and learning from others and knowing what I am experiencing is normal. I love the post op meetings they are so helpful! I really hope to see more people attend and if you don't want to do 2 hours at a time then come for the lapband only at least! It is just for us banders and I promise you will find it very helpful :) Can't wait for the next one!!
You know, I wish the post op support group at CMC would be split up into a lapband group and an RNY group. I went to a post op meeting at the end of last month and it was dominated by the bandsters. The moderator did attempt to include the RNYers but it is quite clear that there are specific post op issues for each type of surgery. Though I am sympathetic, with only an hour and half, I really don't want to listen to the woes of the bandsters and no doubt, if it was reversed, I'm sure the bandsters don't want to waste their time listening to the RNYers gripe and complain.
I'm going to give the CMC support group a couple more trys but I was wondering (sorry if I am hijacking the thread) if the Derry support group is open to people who did not have their surgery at Portsmouth? Thanks..
