I am about to remarry, my 1st marriage lasted only 6 years , I know that i can not collect SS from that marriage. if i am understanding correctly , if you divoce you needed to have been married 10 years to collect any from that spouse.
However this is where i get conflicting answers, when i remarry , GOD FORBID , if my new husband dies after a few years , can i collect, some say at my retirement age i can and others say NO , i needed to be remarried for 10 years.
Does anyone know the truth to this?
