Absolutely.  Just make sure you've covered every provision.  It's always best however, to have a lawyer look over them because the generic forms may not be state-specific.  Once you've had them notarized, you are all set.

I am a certified legal assistant, and I work specifically with probate (administration of wills and estates).  Your will is probably the most important document, and should be done professionally.  That way you know that every aspect is covered.  there are so many things out there that can railroad an estate.  Just to do a will is not that expensive, depending on where you live.  My attorney charges between $75 and $150.  You need two witnesses and a notary, so he supplies all that is necessary.  I know I work with an attorney, and one would think I would recommend having an attorney draft the will anyway, but this is your final say in all matters and it should be done right.

The hospital should have healthcare power of attorney (advanced directive) that they can help you fill out.  That form is basically standard and generic, and I believe that most hospitals have the updated forms.  They will also provide the necessary witnesses and notary.
