Sweet Tooth

I've been away from the board a long time! So glad to check in and see so many familiar names.

I've done well through the holidays and all as far as maintaining and slowly losing. But I've developed a sweet tooth that has prevented me from losing as much as I could have over the past few months. Think I'm losing inches though cuz I had all my pants taken in.

I met with Jaquie last week and other than the evening snacking I'm on target with protein and healthy choices, and the gym 4 to 5 times per week.

Lately I'm on a Good N Plenty kick. It seems to be the little pieces that I think won't bother me and then before I know it I've eaten too many. I must be addicted to sugar. I didn't think I was pre-surgery, but I must be.
Anyone else have trouble staying away from sweets? How do you do it?

Hi Diane,

So good to have you back!!  I miss seeing you at the gym.  I am going to Lee now, which is so much closer to my home...that is when I can finally get there again!!

I have had a very hard time with sweets lately.  I did not have that problem before either, or I did not think it was that bad.  I have been trying to counteract it by having sugar free puddings and sugar free hard candy too.  I guess the first step I really had to make though was to just not buy it.  Do you really need it in the house?  If so, why?  It is so hard to break those habits though once you start down that road again.  I just keep talking to myself, asking if it is worth it in the long run.

Thanks Martha! I think you're right, I don't have to have it in the house (except my teenage daughter likes it), and it's much easier to choose a sf pudding or popcycle when that is the only choice.

Ahhh sweets!  I'm fighting them too.  Presurgery I was a salty snack person.  Now it's the sweets that constantly call my name.  I think the key is to cut them out completely.  They're carbs, and with carbs, the more we eat, the more we want.  I try not to have them in the house too.  What I have done is that on days when I stick to my plan, I reward myself with a very small (1"x1") piece of very dark chocolate.  Yeah, I know, we shouldn't reward ourselves with food, but knowing I can have that little piece of chocolate at night, keeps my honest during the day.
