The New Year

The new year is upon us, with all of its challenges, excitement, celebrations and fears.  I know that it is traditional to set a new resolution every new year, but we are not traditional.  We stand out in the crowd as being in charge, unique, and family.  So my question to all of you is....

What is your goal for the new year?  I am not talking about a weight goal, or making your goal, or how many pounds, or resolutions or anything else associated with the word "goal", but rather, what you want to accomplish in your life this year.

So what do I want to accomplish this coming year?

I will have less bouts of depression, and learn to recognize it and fight it sooner.  I will be the best wife, mother, and grandmother that I possibly can.  I will be a good friend.  I will smile more, frown less.  I will live each moment better than the last.

And....I will drink my water and exercise!!!!

In 2010 I will work on my relationship with my husband. In the last 2 years we have gone through some changes - needless to say. We became grandparents :) twice! and I joined him in the 50's. I also have focused on myself. A lot. So I can understand that he feels a little lost. We spend almost every weekend with the family - which is wonderful but we seem to have lost us - a little. So for Christmas our kids usually give us a weekend away - this year I asked for them to give us the cash . (I know kind of tacky) But they are our kids so it's ok. I also had saved some $$ and I told Bill that we are going on a cruise this year. I mean it. I had him deposit the $$ in an account that is at another credit union then the one I work at so no temptation to touch it.
I am a different person then I was when Bill and I married - 5 years this January :). He was very comfortable taking care of me - always being the leader, now he has a hard time keeping up with me. He's been very very supportive and my biggest cheerleader and it's time for me to make sure he knows how much I appreciate him.
Another goal is to continue with my running. I love to run. Sometimes it's hard but after I feel like I could conquer the world!
Happy Happy New Year!!!

I think that is a wonderful plan Rosemary.  I agree, our husbands (or wives) tend to be "forgotten" at times, because for so many of us, it was never about us before.  You will love going on a cruise.  We want to do that again.  It is so relaxing, and such a great time.  You can even run on the ship!!!

This coming year is going to be a great year for me. I have several goals in mind, starting with sticking with my plan and outlasting my insurance company to get the approval for my surgery.

I am going to continue my exercise program and focus on eating properly. Above all I am going to focus on my life style by reducing stress at work and focusing on the good things in life vs the stressful ones.

I want to focus on being a better husband,  parent, grandparent and person, I will spend more time with my grand children. I will try to develop a better understanding of the other persons view and understand that it takes many view points to make a world.

My goal is to be more grateful for everything in my life; my kids, my husband, my friends, my job.  I get so caught up inthe day to day, that I forget to step back and rejoice in what I have been blessed with.

Happy New Year everyone!!

In 2010 I plan to try nto keep my temper under control. It gets tough at time when my wife want to go out alot with my sister in law. For a "break" I have a hard time with this since I pick up the kids from day care, cook dinner, get lunches ready, and do laundry.

I also hope to start my tree care company if i can get a bigger truck.

Also I want to get a couple of the 4000 footers off my list I have done 3 since surgery 2 in 08, 1 in 09. I just want more time to stop and smell the roses.

Hang in there scottie.  It is hard sometimes, and believe me there are those of us out there that truly wish that our spouses would do half that much!!!

You will climb those mountains...literally, and reach the peaks.  Sometines you only have time to smell the roses from a distance, and sometimes up close, but remember, at least now you can bend down to smell them, and get back up!!!

Take care, and happy new year.

My goal is to find a protein drink I like or at the very least tolerate.  I swear I must have tried them all.  The latest was muscle milk light.... YUCK it taste like medicine, I think that was the worst one of them all.  Isn't it funny how everyone has there favorites and I cannot even find one that I can try and drink.

Hi Gayle,

Did you try the muscle milk light powder or premixed?  They taste completely different.  It is very funny how some people love one thing, and another can't tolerate it.  Lisa loves the nectar fruity protein drinks, and I bought some, and all I smell is the protein.  I think I just cannot do the whey protein.

Have you tried FitSmart protein mix?  I get mine at herbal path, but I am sure that it is online or at another health food store.  I like herbal path, because they sell single packets, and I could try it without wasting a lot of money.

I finally found that I love muscle milk light, and fitsmart, but that is me.  Others like Unjury, others the whey protein from walmart.  You just need to find one that you can take.  It took me over a year!!
